If Pacquiao beats Diaz and they both put in an A- performance, Pac is p4p No. 1...

Your saying if Pac beats Diaz impressively(which he should) that the victory elevates Pac to #1 right?

You're going to move Pac to #1 because he beat a B- fighter at a higher weight. Well how can you give him more credit for something PBF already did against a better fighter?

A diaz victory doesnt really do anything for Pac because Diaz isnt that good

the victory might close the gap a little if Pac really dominates but not enough to surpass PBF.

I expect Pac to win a wide UD as things are right now.

Diaz is B-? Well, I guess PBF is just a B+ then, right.

I'm not talking about the past. PBF used to be the best in the world. USED TO. Lately, his performances have not been as impressive as Pacquiao's given the level of opposition. Now, he is about equal to Pacquaio and possibly JMM, a bit ahead of Calzaghe. So...yeah, if Pacman beats Diaz impressively, he goes top for me. Of course, if PBF then performs very well against a de la Hoya who performs very well, he might equal Pacquiao...but that's further in the future.

In my opinion YES, It's not only because Pac beats diaz but Because of his accompishments... Fifth titles in 5 different divisions and only few fighters did that like PBF and De la hoya..Peace

But He's fighting the wrong Diaz. If Morales wasn't robbed of the decision against David Diaz, would he be PFP#1? I don't think so. Julio Diaz is even better than David.

I didn't see a robbery in that fight

coming from someone who bet on Morales to beat Diaz

If Pac obliterates Diaz in simillar fashion to what he did against Erik Morales 3, he may have a case. Dont forget that Diaz beat Sta. Cruz and is a young champion in his prime at a higher weight class. Beating Diaz will mean many things for Pac, not only will it be for the record books (5th title on his 7th weight division), it will also prove something to those who thinks his power will not carry to LW and he would have beaten a champ whos hungry in his prime.

Diaz, furthermore, is nothing more than a paper champion.

I don't really get this discussion. The current p4p no. 1 fighter in the world, in his last two fights, has fought and beat pretty convincingly 2 fighters who are much better than David Diaz.

So again, I vote a big NO.

So why would his accomplishment of winning 5 titles in 5 weight classes put him ahead of a guy that you listed as already having done so (actually 6 in 5), when he's (Floyd) still fighting?

Funny, to put things into perspective on how important this fight is. Pac is a 2-1 favourite for this fight, that is the same odds as the PBF-Hatton fight where PBF was 2-1 favourite. Surely if Pac is only 2-1 favourite he should get credit for this, as much as PBF got for beating Hatton? Many of you guys despite calling Diaz paper champ obviously feel he would beat Pac, if not for the weight jump alone.

David Diaz is a B- fighter, that's why. There is no way for him to put an A-.

Unless you mean Juan Diaz, in that case, if Pac wins, then yes, he's the #1, but that's as unlikely as him defeating Nate Campbell.

You need to sort out your rating system here, too much is put on the rating and not the actual level of combatants, I hope we weren't talking about David Diaz.

    :huh

How do you make this connection? If Diaz is B-, Floyd is EASILY A+

Pac would be climbing 7 weight divisions, a bit higher than Floyds 5. With all those weight divisions though, theres not too much difference between 5 & 7.

No seriously, Diaz is the worst beltholder at LW, a true B- fighter. He's average all the way around.

And I disagree about performance level. Pac got a gift last fight against an A, PBF dominated a B- or B and hasn't fought an A in his entire career, but also hasn't shown the kind of vulnerability Pac has and only got 1 gift decision, where as Pac got two gift decisions and lost to a past prime Morales first go around.

Pac's performance level has been decreasing, I think he's fading.

The spot remains vacant, David Diaz is a B- fighter, even worse than Margarito, in fact, a measure worse.

    Indeed.

I think he has Diaz's mixed up here, he must be thinking on Juan, the guy who lost to Campbell, not David, the guy who edged Morales.
