It's very discouraging that this fight is even being tossed around. I am a big fan of what Pacquiao does in the ring, but there is no excuse for fighting Mosley at this time. I am resigned to thinking that Floyd Mayweather will not get in the ring with Pacquaio for this next cycle of fights. I still think it will happen some day, but they may sadly be way past their primes. Hopefully they learned from the Hopkins-Jones farce, and will put it together while they are still at or close to the top of their game. Having said that, Pacquiao can take an even clearer advantage both in the public's eye, and in the perceived PPV war by fighting Marquez for a third time. If he fights Marquez, he can settle some of the only unfinished business he has left (aside from Mayweather, obviously.) I also would expect the fight to shatter the number of PPV buys that Mayweather-Marquez did. If Pacquiao beats Marquez convincingly in the trilogy, and it sells as well as it should (thinking near 1.5million), he is the undisputed top dog in boxing. Fighting Mosley proves nothing. He fought to boxing's equivalent of a boring 0-0 soccer draw against Sergio Mora in his last fight, and has frankly shown few signs of life since that 2nd round vs. Mayweather. Realistically, Pacquiao stops a shop-worn Mosley 9/10 times. Manny's biggest and most annoying fans will yammer on about stopping another fighter that took Floyd the distance, but this time it will truly prove nothing due to Mosley's decline. Sadly, with Mosley potentially moving away from Golden Boy in his search for one last major payday, he probably becomes the best financial decision for Arum and co at Top Rank. Pacquiao loses a ton of credibility if they go ahead with Mosley, and I hope they don't think they can get away with screwing us again.
Well I hope you don't eat a few kebabs on the day it's announced. This fight is almost certainly next.
If Pac fights Mosley, would he not have, while at his peak, fought 3 of 6 opponents well after they had already been beaten up and defeated by Floyd Mayweather? Yes he will have. Hard to argue Pac is the greater fighter when no man in their right mind would have said that in January of 2008. So everything since 2008 would be what propels him the greater fighter. (Loop, re-read paragraph)
Floyd Mayweather has had trouble mopping up Cotto's leftovers at WW. Nobody can speak smack about PAC without jealousy. His skill set which does not seem to stop + speaks for itself and in every single language spoken on this planet.
Your in anyway surprised if this fight gets made? Washed up once great legend? Shane fits the bill perfectly!
