I just don't understand how someone can be the best fighter in the WORLD when someone else can beat him.

Good point. So new Question. If they scrapped weight classes, and everyone just fought everyone. Who would come out on top?

My money is on one of the K Bro's

My money is on Ivan Calderon. Wlad will have a stiff back bending too long trying to touch the head of Calderon.

I believe this is why the term pound for pound was invented.

I see where you're coming from I guess. The reason why the HW division is usually the most prestigious is because no one else can beat the best heavyweight boxers, they are the best in the sense that to be on top of the HW division is in a way the same as being on the top of the boxing world.

But, that doesn't account for talent and skill. The best HW boxers aren't necessarily the most skilled or the most talented.

Ok, it feels weird to have to actually explain this :huh

Ok, then how do you determine who is the best p4p between a 147p fighter and a 245p one? What is your criteria (h2h is out I guess)?

seriously? quality of opposition, quality of wins, technique, ring smarts, winning across multiple weights. I would imagine all those weigh in heavily in determining who the best is p4p.

Kind of hard for a HW to do that, don't you think?

quality of opposition - a fighter like Pacquiao has several weight classes or opponents to chose from. A fighter at HW has just one.

quality of wins - do you mean how dominant they are?

technique - I'm sure it's obvious for everyone that the lighter you are the better you can move in the ring.

My point is a p4p list will ALWAYS be bias towards the smaller fighters and the only reason it was created in the first place was to give the little guys more exposure because they where always in the shadow of the HW champ.
