Hatton for another megabuck payday but he'll have a more realistic shot to pull it off. Makes sense both with lagacy and money.
Good question, and also where does it place Hoya in a list of ATG's? Pac gains alot from this fight. Hoya does not. Even picking Mora and going for an easy title at 154 would have been better on paper than winning/loosing to Pac. Oscar could have cinched the deal taking a title fight at 154 to go out on. It was being handed to him on a silver platter. Had he fought Marg same thing but he would have had to fight a tough fight for it and this would have brought his legacy up win or loose. But in this fight only Pac gains.
Pac will gain because people usually cheer for the underdog, we like to see the little guy succeed against the bigger guy, but in reality, if Pac wins will be due more to the fact that Hoya is old, a part-time boxer and rusted, who might have his days numbered as a boxer. The ? is.... what kind of Hoya is going to show up on Dec the 6th.
if pac wins he should find a new trainer, roach is probably lining up pavlik and kessler to fight him next, hahaha.
So you mean it depends on what kind of Hoya will show up on fight night huh? If Pac wins, the Hoya that fought that night is shot, old and rusted?? But if Pac loses, the Hoya that fought that night just did what he was supposed to do..beat the smaller guy?:tired
I just rewatched the Hoya/Forbes fight last night on YT. Hadn't seen it since it first aired. Just have to say I see no evidence of Hoya having slowed down that much. If Hoya is slowed down than the Hoya Pac fights is still gonna be his toughest fight ever. Forbes was fast and what impresses me is his defence, head movement, and feet to always place him a bit out of the way of Oscar's heaviest shots. Pac will have to have this defence to stand a shot. Hoya's combos in that fight came out of nowhere in a lightning quick fashion. His jab that night was perfect. And what's worse, if this is the Hoya that comes in against Pac, he didn't tire. In reality, Oscar looks better at a lighter weight than he did at 154.
All Oscar needs is to land one solid left hook to Manny's chin, and the fight's over. You guys remember that punch, connecting on Fernando Vargas? And Vargas was a pretty tough WW. Manny's just a lightweight, with a featherweight grade chin, IMO. I'm rooting for Pacquiao, but the odds are stacked against him.
If Pac had to beat ODLH, it would catapult him up the ATG list. What an achievement that would be for any fighter. After that, there is still some fight left in the Pacman, he should stay at LW and take on the division with the likes of Campbell, J.Diaz, Guzman, Casamayor and hopefully later, this Khan twat. He obviously also has the big money option of Hatton but it's not a fight I particularly want to see him in.
I am just using common sense/logic. Let me just rephrase it for you. A prime Hoya would defeat Pac and any other lightweight we have now without problems, so the question is, how can Pac or any other 135 pounder can defeat Hoya..... the answer is Hoya has to be almost shot or shot. In other words if a boxer doesn't have the skills, power etc, to defeat another in his prime who happens to be bigger and better than him, then he would have to wait when he is fading or shot to have a better chance to defeat him. Even Roach said that Oscar can't pull the triger (or something like that) anymore.
