Floyd fought Oscar @ 154, therefore he's obligated to fight Sergio.

He was willing to move up to fight Margarito for Sergios old belt but when it comes to fighting Sergio it has to be at 147?

Sadly i can see the last fight of Pacs career being a sacrificial lamb to Chavez jr when he is past his prime so Arum can build up a new "p4p" star that conveniently ducks Martinez until he himself is too old

Preaching to the choir, Lance. I'm no bandwagoner. Visit any heavyweight thread and you'll find me heralding(quite delusionally)the imminent return of Kevin Johnson. But you know as well as I do that in today's boxing, a loss is a justification for a promoter(as well as a fighter if you're a realist) to duck another.

the ******* double standard. basicly your saying "i know pacquiao will get destroyed by sergio so floyd should do it cuz hes a better fighter. hes too big for pacquiao but not to big for floyd even tho theyre BOTH welterweights" gotcha :good

:huh Did this actually make sense in your head? Yes, they are both WW's. As a matter of fact, so was JMM when he fought Floyd, and we still saw a size difference between the two.

Everyone and their momma knows Floyd is bigger then Pac. Well, everyone but you and most Floyd fanboys....:patsch

Plus the fact that Floyd said he would love to fight the winner between Williams and Martinez.

    :rofl

You could say the exact same thing about Mayweather. He was willing to fight De La Hoya for Winky's old belt at 154 giving up every advantage Oscar could think of, but was unwilling to fight Winky at 154 unless Winky agreed to a rehydration clause.

And Floyd's not exactly jumping at the chance to fight Martinez. Mayweather himself a former JMW champion. Floyd won his title against a belt holder at 154, weighing 6 lbs more than Pac did when Pac received his gift belt from Sulaiman at 150. Money, reward/risk rules in boxing, always has, always will.

Even our sexy Sergio is not immune. What other reason does he have for avoiding the best middleweights to call out more hi-profile opponents from the lower weights? Why else would he refuse to move up to SMW for big fights when he can't get those smaller guys?

I don't consider it a duck right now, but were he to move up to a weight Sergio could compete at and refuse to fight him, I'd hold it against him.

Yes it is. As far as I know, the WBC should strip him if he decides to fight anyone but Martinez.

It'd be an indicator that his promotional company wants the easier route to a middleweight title belt. It'd be a duck in that sense, although it certainly wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened in the sport.

This is addressed to both you guys. When Floyd went to 154, he didn't even make weight. And he did it because he was fighting the cash cow. Plus Oscar was also still arguably the best guy in the division. Nobody had established themself as the best there though. That's also why I don't have much problem with Pacquiao fighting Oscar.

But if Floyd was to move up to 154 again, then it's fishy.

    exactly how I see it
