Absolutely. Foreman was losing badly to Moorer before he landed a haymaker. Foreman also had insane, frightening, fight-changing power to work with. Hopkins was a defensive-minded, safety first spoiler. Pac over these guys because Pac was brutally iced, is an offensive-minded fighter, has a much shorter expiration date as a smaller fighter, and continues to win despite a dramatic decline in speed, reflexes, and stamina, three gifts that were almost exclusively responsible for his rise to the top of the boxing summit. Oh, and he's going to be giving up 15-20 pounds to Thurman because his real weight class should be 140.
They’re great wins and foreman over moored ranks highest for me. What’s special about Pac though is that whilst foreman was old when he won, there’s a few other factors that makes PACs win equally as impressive: 1) foreman is a HW, they have much longer boxing lifespan than lighter weights. I’m not sure if this is because power is the last to go and fighters are generally slower. Meanwhile smaller fighters rely so much on movement and speed and reflexes. 2) foreman didn’t take any punishment, Pac hasn’t had 70 fights? Been ktfo cold, been in all the wars, fighting and getting punched way above his weight. A career spanning 2.5 ACTIVE decades as a champ. Hopkins is a freak no denying that. But he’s had less fights, less wars and was a late bloomer. The guy didn’t start fighting world class until he was 40, Pac was erring ktfo since he was teens. And people forget he’s one of the youngest champs ever, champ at 20/21?
Actually come to think of it the most comparable win is Duran-Barkley. Both Duran and Pac had similar careers, fighting at a weight class they don’t belong in, Thurman and Barkley about similar skill level, both fought the best, Ton of wars, 70+ fights, lighter weight, both ktfo and both past it. Yet Duran was younger than Pac but considered way too old.
