why? as i've said, catchweights are used to bridge the gap between two different-sized fighters. pac-cotto is of different size back then. pac-marquez is of the same size thus even if they fight at regular welter, they would not out-size each other come fight night.

Of course it is. Because when the two fighters are not being restricted in how they come on fight night (meaning no making weight or anything, just train to fight!), Pacquiao is the one who comes out the stronger because Pacquiao is the superior fighting machine. It hasn’t got anything to do with JMM being less effective at this weight bla bla bla bla, because that’s all bull****. JMM will always come at 145 regardless of whether the contracted fight is at 135, 140 or 147. That’s his prime fight night weight. And this fight with Pacquiao, is allowing him to come to his prime fight night weight any way he wants to. Just like Pacquiao will come to his prime fight night weight – 148 – the way he wants to.

The whole weight thing, just look at the weights in the second fight. They won't be much difference.

The last time pac fought anyone as good as jmm was jmm himself. He was the same size then and should be the same size fight night.

Jmm lost to floyd because floyd is quicker, has better timing and is a better counter puncher basically negating all off jmm's assets against him. The only advantage jmm had was him elite level combo punches and floyd never gave him chance to let them fly.

Twice now we've seen pac struggle against the combo-counter style of jmm ( I had pac winning the first one 5 rounds to 7 and I am currently watching the second) I don't think that pac will be significantly bigger than jmm and I don't think jmm has significantly declined (i thought he was shot after floyd but he proved me wrong). I do think pac has improved significantly however and he should stop marquez.

If marquez proves the better of pac this fight then I think floyd deserves credit for his victory over jmm, especially considering his layoff.

The intertwining of floyd and pac's recent opposition is much more intriguing than I ever imagined it would be. Pac looked better against hatton, floyd looked better against mosley. I expect pac to out do floyd here.

What's all this bull**** about marquez and pac will be same size anyway come fight night, yet the same bitches cried about floyd fighting hatton at 147 .

Noone wanted to see the JMM fight you **** apart from you *******s.

Its not all of a sudden, we have been saying it for ages that Marquez is no longer a threat, your just too dumb and ignorant to realise that.
Or you probably just learnt how to read and write in english recently because if you think thats true then it pretty much sums up the fact that all *******s are plain stupid and you sir are a mother****er :D

the only difference is that we don't know how floyd weighed at fight night aginst jmm. he could be outweighing jmm by several pounds while jmm rehydrated abnormally to 148 which is not an effective fight night weight for marquez. marquez should not do this in their 3rd fight since pac would surely not be much bigger come fight night.

but i guess, when it comes to pacquiao-floyd fight, size is one disadvantage that pac has to overcome just like he overcomes them against cotto, clottey and margarito.

Good post. I've been trying to tell everyone for months now, that the weight for Pac-JMM III will not be that much of an influencing factor. The only thing it does is prevent Pacquiao from the risk of worrying about making weight, and possibly ill-preparing himself. That's the main reason they enforced it.

And I also agree that JMM has not slipped that much from their last meeting. He's actually proven to be as good as he's ever been. His performances against Casa, Diaz II and Katsidis were masterful. It's just that Mayweather fight - where he was comepletely out of his class - which has convinced people that he's no longer at his best, and that he's slow and lethargic at a supposedly higher weight.

no one is crying about floyd beating hatton at 147 but it is worth noting that hatton's best weight is at 140 and is much better if someone has beaten him at 140. of course we understand that floyd is the draw and he would not make 140 anymore because he has grown into the weight at the time.

Wow, you really are as dumb as a bag of hammers. I can now put you on the same list as Karceno, Spud and Michigan Warrior.

You show me where i've ever cried about floyd-hatton. I was one of the guys sat in the pub saying floyd was ducking hatton up until he finally signed. Terrific victory and a great performance by floyd and noone would disagree.
