the problem really with fighters from another era is that it is difficult to dislodge them out of sentimental attachment, but advances in science and technology has got to take this into consideration.

tiger woods. roger federer. lance armstrong. manny pacquiao. these people were not expected to pop our of nowhere and dethrone players who came before them. its much easier true to measure golf and tennis but the analogy is clearly there.

would you say that federer is not clearly superior to lendl, ashe, chang, becker etc?
woods better than any player in the last 20 years?

there is melancholy and sentiment. but the guy started at 106. at 16. woods and roger federer started very young also.
don't you notice that a lot of great players started young which provided them a path to greatness wherein their natural gift/genius were honed to be able to achieve greater success.

He's Top 15-20 to me. No one has ever won the flyweight title and the junior welterweight title before.

A win over Cotto moves him just outside the Top 10, and a win over Mayweather puts him inside it. If he were to beat both, how could you not at least consider him even closer?

Because where and when and how he beats them matters.

he beat his diaz, dlh, hatton either by KO. or TKO. mab ran like crazy. we all know what happened to larios, morales.

it was only JMM who pac had trouble but of course he sent the guy to get reacquainted with the canvas the second time they met.

how in God's name can you even mention this.

    where and when and how?
it must be tough being a floydette nowadays.

Well if Pac-Cotto gets made and Cotto is forced to drain himself, the victory isnt nearly as good as it can be.

    Same with Floyd.

It's possible that Floyd could fight Manny after nearly 2 years and coming off a recent injury in his first fight back.

Now Manny beating Floyd there isn't the same as if Floyd had a fight or 2 under his belt before they fought after his comeback.

    1. its not pacs fault that pbf was such a ***** ass the past 18 months. there were so many fights to be made. instead, he retired. its not pacs fault, nor cottos fault nor mosley.

so you should not blame pac here for the repercussions of pbf's decisions.

    2. if ever pac-cotto or pac pbf fought, at a catchweight, of say 145 whis is highly probable, these are meant to even the playing field.

pbf has fought as high as 154. he is the self proclaimed greatest of all time.

but he has been acting such ***** lately. 3k tickets sold. he is delusional. for a guy whose top 5 wins in his resume.

    dlh. hatton. castillo. gatti. corrales.

he needs to get a grip of reality and grow some balls. i retired, so its not my fault if i come back against a much smaller and older fighter.

gee, great. as i have said, it must be tough to be a floydette nowadays.

Im not blaming Pac for anything. If he beats Floyd who has not fought for 2 years and coming off a recent injury. I cant give him full credit, nor can anyone.
I know they are but when you are talking about Cotto is pushing 10-13lbs of cutting already, you are really hurting the body.

For Floyd its fine he doesn't cut but a 1lb at most.

    :patsch

He retired. Signed a 5 fight deal and was coming back in a tune up against someone of equal size to Pacquaio.

A tune up. JUst because Tyson didnt fight a cruiserweight doesn't mean its wrong to fight someone in a tune up.

1st, you still aren't that bright. You clearly don't know the career of Mayweather.

2nd, only idiots like you believe everything he says he believes.

:rofl:rofl:rofl. injury my ass. no pics. no medical certificate. the fight was predicted to be canceled here in esb based on insider info what, a full 2 weeks before the cancellation was announced.

injury my ass. and don't even ask me to bump the thread for your benefit.

18 months is not 2 years eze. that is a long way off. its his fault that he retired, its his fault that he feigned injury.

and where the hell did your logic go? of course its not wrong to fine someone in a tune-up. that is not the issue here. when you go for a tune-up, you go for a b-level fighter in your weight category. like what tyson did.

you don't go 2 categories south and pick a smaller and older man. :-(
can you imagine calzaghe coming back and asking to fight cotto since for you, it is ok that he fights a tune-up. :rofl
