Do we want a successor to Wlad? I thought we were all moaning when he was dominating and we were all greatful when Fury beat him and unlocked all the belts. Im a big Joshua fan, i want him to unify all the belts for himself and for Great Britian but as much as i wouldnt want him to lose do we really want to stare down another decade of dominance?

Although Joshua is flawed enough and the cometition good enough for that not to be the case anyway.

I think Joshua will win so not a problem.

However, how long before some of the sanction bodies start demanding mandatories and strip some of the belts from Joshua?

If Parker wins, I see that fragmentation happening a lot sooner.

If Parker wins the HW will end up like the HW in the early 80's and after
the end dominance of the Klitschko brothers. Will be the end of the
HW super fights that would catch the mainstream public attention like
a match up with Wilder or Fury. Look what happened to UFC when Brock
Lesnar lost the UFC has never recovered.

Heavyweight boxing is hoping this. Joshua has star marketing and picks better opponents than say, Joshua.

If Parker wins, will he fight the best, or pull another Wilder? That is the risk.

We could get two guys, neither of whom want to fight each other belt milking vs. top 40-15 types for title defenses...and that for me would tarnish heavyweight boxing.

If Joshua wins, I know he'll fight Wilder, and he's offering big purses due to his popularity. Wilder could probably make three times more vs. Joshua than his " normal " title defenses. But vs. Parker, Wilder might not make much more than " normal, " and I think all we would see is name calling and PED acquisitions.

If Parker manages to win his stock will go through the roof and there will be a huge rematch.

Winner faces Wilder.

Okay but do we need a dominant successor at all in the division? Don't you think it would be better for the division to be more equal and interesting? I think Parker can surprise Joshua but I don't think it is something bad if it happens. Both Ruiz and H. Fury were considered by a lot of people here as pretty good contenders.

You are absolutely right. The last time when the division was spectacular was when there was no one to dominate it.

It's inevitable either way. Should AJ become undisputed expect him to vacate at least 2 and maybe more of the belts relatively quickly. Otherwise he'll just be a slave to the sanctioning bodies constantly moving from mandatory to mandatory. He'd be better off as Ring champion, letting others fight for his cast off then picking them off when and where he chooses.

No, we don't need a dominant successor, what we need are the champions fighting top ten competition.

We have it in 2018, but I suspect the easier path will be taken is Parker wins, and we'll never see Wilder in a big fight vs a man in his prime correctly ranked in the top 10.

Hugo Fury can't punch and his record is full of journeyman.

Andy Ruiz is a solid #11-15 type of contender, and Parker just edged him by a very narrow margin.

• Judge: Ramon Cerdan 115-113
• Judge: Salven Lagumbay 114-114
• Judge: Ingo Barrabas 115-113

I don't hate Parker, and think he has a chance vs Joshua. I just worry about the direction of the division.

The direction is perfect! A lot of the youngsters turned pro and are moving fast through the rankings, CW division is amazing right now and some of the people will move up as well. A guy with this in his account : "Hrgovic = Next Heavyweight champion of the world." should be more positive about the division! Yes ... they need to face each other and Parker and Joshua are doing it. I feel like the only problem is the american fighters. Too much money and drama where should be the fight made and etc.

They’re all good, exceptional maybe not,as it stands I only see AJ and Wilder as having a chance at being exceptional,AJ shown in a short time what he can do and Wilder has over 40 fights.
Parker has just had too many close points wins and needs a great performance to beat AJ.

I'm very positive about the division in the next 2-3 years.

IMO, Parker vs. Joshua is the best heavyweight fight out there, and what does that say about the health of the division right now?

it will be inverted for sure, with australia on top of the world

or perhaps thats the actual norm anyway, who knows? given that india, china and australia might have had the oldest civilisations anyway so mapping started around there.

Says a lot. There wasn't any drama around the fight. Parker accepted everything and goes to England to face the best in the division at the moment. Both fighters will be winners because this fight will be a huge experience. The unbeaten record bull**** should be forgotten. There is nothing wrong to lose from someone that is in the top5 of the world. If you are good enough, you will come back stronger.
