I keep reading posts that if Winky has just a little left in the tank than he will beat Paul this Saturday nite; I'm also hearing from the same posters that Paul is fighting a shell of Winky and that if Paul wins it will be because Winky isn't prime. That is a stupid thing to say as it showed the posters are being biased. No matter what Paul does he can't win. BASICALLY IF PAUL WINS THAN THE POSTERS GONNA SAY WINKY WAS PAST HIS PRIME AND IF PAUL LOSES THAN THE POSTERS GONNA SAY THAT WINKY IS STILL A THREAT ETC ETC.... MY POINT IS HOW DOES PAUL GET CREDIT IN THIS FIGHT IF BY BEATING WINKY MANY POSTERS HAVE ALREADY SAID THEY'LL SAY WINKY IS PAST HIS PRIME AND ALL THAT BULL$HIT!
It would be a great win for Williams over what will be regarded as the best win in his career. Should he lose, Bad things for Williams.... as good as Wright is the fact dude has not had a fight in a minute will be a factor it has to be. Here is to both being at their best on Sat. (so there is no excuses)
Alright, so let me ask you 2 questions: 1 - Do you think Winky is still in his prime? 2 - Do you think Williams would beat a prime Winky? The answer to both of these questions is a resounding no.
It all depends on how the fight goes; if Paul wins the fight he will--or should at least--get credit. If Winky loses the fight Williams should get less credit.
so ur sayin that if williams wins than its only cuz winky is past prime...a prime williams vs a prime winky is a good fight.. Juss dont start makin excuses if paul wins...everyone who says paul will win cuz winky is shot is juss hatin..fact is winky is a good fighter and paul should get credit for beatin ol boi if he does!
Either way, past prime or not.. (Same **** for all past it boxers still doing it) They are big boy's they know what they are getting into. If they get blown out Vs. younger better versions of their current self.... They shouldn't sign their name on the dotted line. Don't feel sorry for them, They all fought past it fighter's in their career. (It's part of the sport)
Prime-for-prime Winky would embarrass Paul Williams, and even now he's going to win comfortably. I'm not a hater by any means, I've never said a bad word about PW on these forums, I'm just stating facts. Winky is by far the better boxer and he matches up well in this fight. The only things PW has going for him are reach, which he doesn't use, and high work-rate, which Winky has dealed with before with guys like Mosley - by far a better overall fighter aswell.
Sadly, many will claim that: -Winky is shot. -Winky was inactive -Winky hasnt recovered from the Hopkins lost!:rofl -Winky got old over night. The funny thing about it is that a bunch of people are picking Winky to win, but to show their true colors after fight night...They will rather make up excuses for Winky instead of giving Williams his props. I can just see it now.:yep If Williams does pull out the victory (which I think he will) Williams deserves props for moving up in weight and taking on a real threat in Winky.
Not shot, but certainly past his prime. The guy has been a pro for years, he's what 37? Of course he's not in his prime for this fight. Fact. He hasn't fought since the Hopkins fight, which was 2 years ago I think? It's not an excuse or opinion, it's a fact. I don't think he'll have problems recovering mentally from the loss, but obviously it's worth saying he's coming down in weight. Although it was 2 years ago, so I don't think that's relevant to be honest. Well the guy is 37/38. In boxing terms, he is pretty old. And it's not gonna be overnight, it'll be over 2 years. It's basically like him coming out of retirement to fight Williams - he isn't getting any younger and 2 years without a fight could have taken it's toll.
Can't deny tho, That a loss is a bad look for Williams, more so than for Wright. But prop's to both for excepting a fight on that level. (I promise my post don't contain Plaster Officer Richardson...lol)
The key is just to be honest about what we see come fight night. Personally I'm pulling for Winky for a number of reasons. However, if Winky looks as good as he did against Taylor, and Paul wins, I'll give him all the credit he deserves. If Winky looks old and tired and can't let his hands go, et, that's another story.
Exactly right. If Winky looks like the Winky of old and PW beats him, I'll give him his credit no doubt.
