tough one, but i'd probably give the edge to floyd. his speed, defense, and working the angles should make the difference. still not to sure tho. quintana did lay a blue print to beat pw, but i don't know if floyd might be laying into pw's hands if he tried doing that rope a dope on the ropes cuz even if pw wouldn't land a clean shot, he's a guy that if he don't catch u with one hard shot, he can lay down more than 1,000 per fight. floyd would have to be doing alot of running on this one cuz pw will find him and when he does catch him he's gonna want to take full advantage of it. pw gets sloppy and unfocused at times, floyd whether he's dominating or in trouble, is always in it

The way PW caught Quintana was by letting Quintana fall in. The first time around PW could not find Quintana because Quintana was lunging all the way inside and slipping his punches from the outside. This time around Williams let Quintana come to him and he nailed him on the way in with a counter left. After that punch it was all downhill for Quintana.

 

Good post, but I didn't see it that way. Williams was way more aggressive in the rematch. Q just straight outboxed Williams and he was just countering Williams all night in the first fight. In the rematch, Q might've seemed more aggressive, but it was because Williams was coming at him. Q expected this, but he got caught early.

 

Once he caught Quintana he was more aggressive. No argument there.

But before that he kept his distance and used his jab like he should have the first time. It set the distance for the counter left inside.

The issue with moving forward against that Ruizesque punch and grab **** is that he's using your movement against you. You move and he moves too and before you can get a punch off he's on your chest. The key is to not move forward and to just pop him with the jab when he opens up. Force him to take two steps instead of one and he'll leave himself open eventually for a counter.

It wasn't really hard to figure out what Quintana was doing in the first fight. They watched tapes on Williams and saw how he gave up his height by moving forward throwing multiple punches. Quintana simply made for an ugly fight and barely edged it. I knew that fight was a mistake for Williams and the rematch proved it.

 

If Floyd and Williams fight, I'll be betting heavily on Floyd, and collecting as I always do when Floyd fights.
