He should retire... Beating Ishida means ****, and doesn't prove anything IMO... What have we seen Ishida do besides beat Kirkland that night? Don't even think he could beat Kirkland again...

All of this is based off you saying except fire his trainer.. Because he should do that first, second, last and again... If he wants to continue boxing at or near the top level...

Wasn't he 170 in the ring against Lara? I highly doubt he can make 147 with ease anymore, if at all

beating Ishida proves something? I really do have to give Haymon credit he's knows how to match him of course after that Williams will lose his very next fight but that doesn't matter.

Ishida really isn't that good... he got lucky against Kirkland and managed to pull a Prescott/Vince Phillips, being the right person at the right time. That win means basically nothing to me and PW is done, Sexy Sergio basically ruined him.

    Just my opinion.

actually after that he could match him up against Pavliks washed up alcoholic ass and probably get a win then he could demand a big fight which he'll of course lose but I could see that happening.

I'm not convinced Williams is done, he's had two bad performances but I don't know if that means he's done. Martinez caught him with a great shot, sometimes good fighters get caught. Lara is a good fighter himself and his style helped make that fight so one-sided. Willias could be done as a top fighter but I'm not sure at this point, we need to see more.

Ishida has that nice win over Kirkland but I don't think a win for Williams, even a dominate one, will prove a lot. The fight I would love to see for Williams if he wins is James Kirkland. Thats just a great looking fight, actually Kirkland vs. the winner of Williams-Ishida would be good match making. I'd also like to see a Williams-Alvarez match up and if Williams loses put him and Angulo together to see who bounces back and who is totally done.

I agree his trainers have done him no favors either but neither has his managment who are just as guilty as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair Goossen tried to have Ishida as his opponent in his last fight and HBO forced him to fight Lara. I doubt we see him in with another southpaw unless it's a rematch with Martinez or Lara or he's forced into facing one again.

I want him to fight guys like Alvarez and Kirkland or Cotto. There aren't that many guys at 154 and 160 that fight that Martinez or Lara. He can make a living off of fighting guys like Alvarez or JCC and still compete. He has no shot against counter punchers who move and we've seen it time and time again. He doesn't have the ring IQ or skillset. There are far better match ups out there and Kirkland-Williams comes to mind. It is without a doubt one of the most exciting fights that could be made in the sport and those are the types of fights I want to see him in. Williams will never be in the class of PBF or Pac so lets just enjoy him for what he is at this point a limited guy who loves to bang and come forward who fights in a crowd pleasing style.:good

:thumbsup Can't argue a single point. Not all boxers have to be SRR or Ali. I am more then fine with him being a Gatti.

You're right about that. HBO didn't want that fight.

I would be happy if they just taught Williams how jab with conviction. It's all too often just flicked out there, like a range finder. With his reach and height, it's criminal they haven't. :-(

Of course you would accept a fight with Pac or Mayweather. He would probably make 4 million and could retire right after. Ishida is a Japanese nobody, if he doesn't knock him out its time to hang em up

Yeah I'd prefer a Paul Williams fight (if he proves he still has it) for Pac/May over Peterson or Bradley.
