Fight with Kirkland or Angulo would be great.

I'd like to see him stick to 154 and face Kirkland and/or Angulo.

Bingo, and for that, the first thing he needs to do is fire his trainer ASAP.

In my eyes Ishida has not lost a fight since 2004.
One can argue that Williams has not won a fight since 2009.

If Williams wins then the only thing for him to do is rematch Lara.

:dealKeep trying to tell people but they dont seem to understand STYLES MAKE FIGHTS!!!!!!!!!

Thinking like that would be logical and posters on this site are anything but its easier for those little tiny brains they have to just call any fighter that loses a bum.

Ishida is nothing but a fringe contender/journeymen that got lucky against a superior fighter who is very susceptible to an early round KO and Ishida being extremely feather fisted managed to caught him cold and stop him. Until he shows that fight wasnt just a fluke(which most think it was) he isnt nowhere in Williams class.

Williams by mid to late round TKO..... Ishida will land some shots like everyone does on Williams but he will being getting hit a lot in return and wont be able to stand the pressure.

Just keep Williams away from slick southpaws and he should do fine.

Because unlike in boxing video games its not to easy just to fix a problem and some problems cant be fixed. That's why fighters lose fight and are know for having "weaknesses".

And why change a fighter who has won titles in 2 weight classes beat guys like Margarito, Phillips, Wright, Quintana, Martinez, Cintron ect.

Weather people want to acknowledge it or not he is the last person to beat Martinez and even though he got hit with huge shots and looked bad in that fight it was still a veryyyy close fight that couldve went either way and he won it. His skills and gameplan were good enough to beat the now top 5 P4P fighter/Undisputed Middleweight champion but yet you want him to take a style that while not pretty has gotten the job done 37 times out of 40 that pretty good.

You change Williams style, skills and gameplan and guess what? He's not Paul Williams anymore.

Look at it like this Floyd Mayweather Jr is known for having some problems with southpaws also and before fighting Corley I think he only fought one southpaw very early in his career. Since winning the WBC title in 98 Floyd has fought only 4 southpaws Corley, Mitchell, Judah and Ortiz. 4 southpaws in 13 years at the top of the sport and Williams has already had 4 fights against southpaws. If Floyd can avoid them then so can Williams.

I don't think Lara or Paul need the rematch. Everybody knows Lara dominantly won the fight

    Everybody but Paul that is.

I would like to see him set the record straight against Lara, just like he did against Quintana and attempted to do against Martinez. :good

I don't think he's saying that, I just think he's saying he's wide open to the overhand left, and the fact that he's fought southpaws in 7 of his last 9 fights is not only stupid but unprecedented. He might be the only fighter in the history of boxing to face that many southpaws in that short of a period.

It's not as if he hasn't been fighting top guys, but none of the top orthodox fighters have wanted any piece of him since the Margarito fight. Pavlik pulled out against him twice, Cotto, Floyd and Mosley wouldn't go near him, etc. He is a decent draw and a recognizable name, yet he still has trouble getting fights against anyone who fights right handed. Even now, the only fighters who seem to want him are Lara and Kirkland.

Pavlik pulled out for health reasons. Don't try and make it sound like Kelly didn't want any of Paul. He knew Paul would match poorly against him and took less money to get the fight signed. Besides, Paul and his folks swear they never signed the contract for the second fight anyhow.

I wasn't trying to make that sound like a knock on Pavlik. My point was that Williams tried to face another top orthodox fighter, but it never happened for reasons beyond his control. The pull outs were legit, but I also have little sympathy - had Kelly been taking care of his body the way a fighter should, neither of those injuries would have happened.

I don't know. The staph infection was just unfortunate. It seemed to plague athlete's in NE Ohio at an uncommon rate a few years ago. Of all the **** you can hang on Pavlik, the staph infection is about the one thing he had little/no control over. Just a freak thing.

    I believe Williams will win.

but i'd firmly place him in the 'good' fighter category.
