If Paul Williams wants to be a superstar, why doesn't he hype his fights?

some guys do not hype fights well, or have the knockout footage to help it out. Mike McCallum is a guy who with his great skills, had he had a Hector Camacho mouth he would have been one of the legends of the 1980's with Hearns,Hagler,Leonard and Duran.

actually, you don't. there are different ways to entertain fans. being in exciting fights with other big time fighters is one way. did you see holyfield knock everybody out?

paul williams does hype his fights. what do you expect him to do aside from having his promoter build the fight and talking the media up?...which he does. he just doesn't have the vibrant personality of a floyd mayweather or an entire nation unanimously behind him like manny pacquiao. because of these things he won't get the offer from HBO to turn his life into a top notch reality t.v documentary like 24/7, at least not now.

He either needs to start knocking people out or talking trash.

When you don't have power to knock out or destroy most of your opponents in a sensational fashion, you have to rely on ridiculous trash talking. It's worked for Floyd.

Paul Williams from the Press conference "I've been in there with him and he's been in there with me, so we both know what to expect. It is going to be something to see, so you should come out Saturday night to watch it and if you can't come out, then watch it on HBO. I'm not worried about the dog biting me because you can't bite in the ring."

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Maybe you racist bigot assholes need to open your goddamn ears. I understand Paul just fine. He has a southern accent, so the **** what?! I didn't realize Paul was in training for a public speaking engagement at Harvard. This is boxing, not public speaking 101!

Lol! Usually he says: "Martinez is a warrior, I'm a warrior so u should watch the fight between 2 warriors." Corrales used to say the same kind of thing but u could feel the fire inside him . I dont with Williams even though I enjoy watching him fight. It has been said earlier in this thread: he is not charismatic.
"In the ring I can do all kind of stuff u know what i'm sayin.. I'm a warrior u know what I'm sayin.. I come in the ring and stuff..blablabla"

Williams demanded the fight be at 158 with his personal judges again, his referee, his promoter having complete control over everything! His venue once again. He sure knows how to cheat.

Sergio Martinez is one of my favorite fighters at the moment and I am also a Paul Williams fan. One of the main reason is these two are doing the talking with their gloves. They fight against good competition and doesn't whine about other fighters.

Brieflty, I want to see boxers fight and I'm fine with Paul Williams.

Is not as easy as simply hyping fights by saying stupid things and artificial rivalries you need to either be an interesting person like Tyson or have charisma like Ali or just be a wrecking machine in the ring that excites everyone.

Alexander, Dawson, Williams, Bradley, Cloud and all these guys will have respectable careers but no one outside of the hardcore fans will care about them.
