Your argument becomes weaker if Taylor beats Lacy in November. Lacy is Calzaghe's claim to fame.

No, he shouldn't. The Hopkins fight did very little for Calzaghe in terms of resume.

It does alot for Pavlik, simply because he isn't a fully peaked boxer, but it doesn't propel him ahead of Calzaghe. Pavlik haven't even cleaned up his division - unlike Calzaghe.

Calzaghe ruined Lacy - and furthermore Lacy has suffered a big shoulder injury afterwards - you can't make comparisons like that. Not even if Taylor schools Lacy more than Calzaghe did - which he won't - I think he will lose actually.

Taylor will lose to Lacy...............how do you figure that? Is Lacy gonna KO Taylor? Sure as hell ain't gonna outbox him.

I wanna see Kessler vs Pavlik in the near future. I'd love Kessler to win but I think his lack of heart was exposed against Calzaghe and he'll lose an epic fight again.

It doesn't matter much anyway, Lacy was never too good to begin with. Taylor has always been a much better fighter - just look at his opposition. Lacy never fought against the likes of Winkie Wright or Bernard Hopkins.

Dominating Hopkins will do a lot for Pavlik's p4p because Hopikins is rated above Pavlik in the p4p rankings. For those that care, it will also be indicative of how he looks in comparison to Calzaghe. Calzaghe eeked out a win against Hopkins one fight prior to Pavlik's fight against Hopkins. I also think a loss doesn't really hurt Pavlik because Pavlik is still at the dawn of his career. Who cares if you lose against an ATG? especially when you fight 10 pounds over your normal weight?

Dane - do you have any idea when Kessler plans to fight someone worth mentioning?

No he doesn't, P4P isn't judged that way, if anything some people will look at this win as after Calzaghe beat him. It will definitely push Pavlik on the P4P list but not above Calzaghe. General accomplishments play a major role here and Pavlik is not even close to Calzaghe there.

Yes. People forget what P4P means. Pavlik is moving up from Middleweight to fight Hopkins. If he KOs him or beats him very impressively then he should certainly pass Calzaghe. I thought the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight should have hurt both of them in the P4P rankings because they both looked horrible. Just wait and see the shitstorm that erupts if Jones pulls off the upset and beats Calzaghe, I don't want to be anywhere near a P4P discussion if that happens!

No. Because styles make fights and imo Pavlik has the style to defeat a Bernard Hopkins, while Calzaghe is tailor made for a guy like BHop.

Even if Pavlik beats Hopkins convincingly i still think that Calzaghe is the better fighter overall, just that a guy like Calzaghe, a southpaw who like to get in close and throw punches from different angles, will always look bad against an orthodox counterpuncher with a low output and great footwork..

If Calzaghe really struggles against Roy like he did against Hopkins then i will probably move Pavlik above Joe.

How? I thought it was the opposite actually. Calzaghe is quicker, throws more punches and from wierd angles which would disrupt anyones defense. Pavlik is viewed as a guy that pretty much comes straight forward behind a jab. I think Pavliik is better and will do much better against Hopkins, but stylistically I disagree with what you posted.

no, because after a loss (whether you agree with it or not) makes Hopkins prestige decrease, and therefore is not good enough a win to do that. it raises him a place however.

because a guy who throws alot of punches from weird angles leaves himself open for alot of well-timed counters. Especially when that guy is a southpaw, and the counter-puncher's best counter is the straight right hand. A guy with reach who comes in behind a jab doesn't leave himself open as much for counters, but is more prone to being hit by someone who throws alot of punches from weird angles. Also Pavlik punches harder than Calzaghe, and Hopkins is known to avoid getting hit by a hard punch as all cost, that means that he will be much more tentative against Pavlik than he was against Joe.

Yes, I have a (T)KO prediction against Taylor. Think I have it in round 9.

Lack of heart? What match did you see? He was out of his comfort zone almost throughout the match, but he tried to fight a fight he hasn't done before(in the pocket) by pure will, as he was already getting tired in round 6 or so.

Kessler will walk all over Pavlik - trust me on that.
