Ive been reading some post here talking about Joes legacy of beating more quality fighters ..I agree but since when did Joe get into the p4p list..If I recall correctly ..only 2 years ago...so its not like he has been a mainstay at the rankings and have gotten credit before.... So lets talk about the last two years ..I can say flat out that if Kelly beats BHOP..their resumes about even..Id say Kellys better more Please no h2h for now...that does nothing
If Pavlic beats him its because hopkins is too old. He got lucky in his first fight with Taylor because he was almost knocked out. Taylor was arrogant and didnt think Pavlik could beat him. Taylor punched himself out and lost his focus mentally, and once Pavlik hurt him it was over. Pavlik won the second fight with Taylor because Taylor was scared of being knocked out. Now Pavlik has alot of heart but he is at the point where he needs to make sure his confidence does not turn to arrogance, that was Taylors downfall. But Pavlik needs alot more to prove before he even belongs on the list.
Even if Pavlik beat Hopkins impressively it still does'nt move pass Calzhaghe in the rankings, especially when your criteria is based off resume which is something Calaghe has over Pavlik still. Now if Pavlik beat Hopkins impressively and goes back down to 160 and beats Arthur Abraham clearly then I might have a change of heart as to moving Pavlik above Calzaghe in the rankings.
Youre missing my point...Calz 10 years of resume didnt get him into the top 10 p4p until 2 years ago..so we have to base it on body of work of the last two years...If Kelly beats HOP impressively (moreso than Joe) He has to be considered higher than Joe...
No you are dismissing other points than your own, hard to have a serious debate when you wont acknowledge other wiews on the subject.
Yeah and Delahoya has resume over Margarito STILL....but not recently, which is what matters in the CURRENT and PRESENT DAY P4P list :deal Calzaghe's last 5 fights This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected :deal Pavliks last 5 fights (assuming and including the BHop win) This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Now if you can look at those two and not say pavlik's is more impressive I seriously question your objectivity on this subjet :deal
I have him a distant number five at the moment. No matter what Pavlik will still be behind Pacquiao and Calzaghe .
Pavlik is the local so factor that in to my comment. If Pavlik loses to Bhop it means alot. Pavlik struggles to make 160 so 168 is a more natural weight for him to fight at. This fight is at 170. If he loses to Bhop, then he doesn't stand much of a chance against JC. It took me a LONG time to warm up to this matchup for Kelly. Boo has pointed out that in some ways Kelly is still lacking in experience because of all of his early KO's. I agree with Boo though. Hopkins just doesn't have the stamina to hang with Kelly for the full 12. He retires Bhop and JC in the same night.
Kelly has to barely squeak by Bhop to lure JC into the ring. If he loses, JC says, not way he needs to fight Kelly. If he wins convincingly, then JC says he is already announced his retirement and we never hear from him again.
