If Pavlik wins then it's about time he beat a live opponent. The last time Pavlik beat a live opponent was over 2 years ago against Taylor. But i will give Pavlik credit. But if Pavlik lose, i don't want to hear excuses coming from Pavlik's camp, Pavlik himself or Pavlik fans saying if Pavlik had 150 temperture or Pavlik hand still ain't healing.

I think I'm going to sign off for the weekend. Things are getting too stupid for me. I'm afraid it might be catching. I'll wait till after the fight and see if things have gone back to the 'normal' level of insanity.

Pavlik had a good win against Miranda.

He had a very good win against Taylor (though he was seconds away from being KO'd in the second), and a good win in the rematch.

These were decent, but not great opponents.

Still, you could make a case that both were damaged somewhat by their losses to Pavlik, and were actually better before losing to Pav.

Other than that, Pav has had journeymen opponents or less. So by resume, he has not established himself as a top fighter . Yet.

The utter one-sidedness of his loss to Bernard raises questions.

Martinez is a smaller man but cleary, the better boxer.
Therefore I think Pavlik needs the stoppage if he is to get the win.

I'm leaning towards this result, but Martinez could definitely outbox him to a decision.

IF, Pavlik beats Martinez (non-controversially), he must be given serious credit for what I would term a very good win. It will put him back where he probably should have been in the mix if his career hadn't taken the dip. He would be right back up there. A subsequent win over Williams (far from a sure thing) would clean out the division.

If Bernard can get credit for beating the smaller Tito, Pav should get credit for a victory over Sergio.

( I take the (minority, no doubt) view that, while Tito ranks greater than Martinez, that is mostly due to his resume at 147 and 154. At 160, with legal handwrappings, I would pick Martinez over Tito h2h. )

So to answer the question, yes, I would give him serious credit if he beats Martinez.

    If he doesn't...?

Well, I don't think I need to spell it out.

In every poll you voted for a Martinez win. On every thread you claimed Martinez will beat Pavlk in humiliating fashion. Now you're saying he deserves no credit if he beats the guy you said he can't beat. Tighten up ****-Wit.

Pavlik is good fighter, but he might lose to Martinez. Williams is afraid of Pavlik and refused to fight Martinez after Martinez beat the crap out of him. Pavlik will never get credit from Void fans.

Well you seemed to have been knocking Martinez big time for months, which I don't understand. He's just another guy not on Pavlik's level, can't throw punches, etc.

So if you have such a low opinion of his worth, then why should you even expect credit? Or is unintentional irony your thing?

Some... not a lot. I don't view Martinez as a real threat to a quality MW, but he's not a total walkover. It's a decent keep busy fight.
