Then I'll feel sorry for him, because he won't be able to recover from this loss and his career will essentially be over.

Despite everything negative I've posted on Pavlik, I was a big fan but his career has slowly turned into a joke. Everything from the Hopkins fight onwards has been truly pathetic, outside the ring, especially the botched Williams negotiations. It's a shame because Pavlik is a likeable guy who would fight anyone, yet his career has been so badly handled, I'm now hoping his reign will end,

I, like many, once viewed Pavlik as a saviour and the future. Now, I hope his weak reign can end quickly and we can move on to an era with a new middleweight champion.

No matter what happens, he will never be the same fighter after the schooling by Hopkins.

Agreed. It's a shame too but boxing is a ruthless sport.

I'm amazed that anyone ever thought he was going to be something special, he's always looked horribly limited to me. Good at what he does, but very basic. Be an interesting fight tonight as i rate Martinez, but although he is quick he's not the hardest to hit and i can see him eating one too many straight rights from Pavlik and getting stopped late.

I've never been a huge fan of the guy, I don't know why, I just haven't.

Well if Pavlik loses, at least Sergio Martinez will get his shine...

never a fan of pavlik, i believed he was hype from the americans, and guess what? i still believe that to this day.

i just think pavlik has power and a very good right hand, but apart from that what does he have that's much superior over the elites? i think martinez catches pavlik time and time again with counters.

He can still move up to super middleweight, the options are endless there and even after a loss his name will still be decent enough to attract anyone in that division. Once you hit stardom it's very hard to drop out of it completely and three or four losses do nothing unless he gets completely wiped off the scene at super middleweight too. When both physically and mentally you're punished then out you go, he only had one loss so that's nothing to say a second one means retirement. How many thought Mosley should retire for eternity after his losses to Forrest?, second loss to Wright?. There are endless similar examples.

On the contrary, if he wins, there'll be a BIG Pavlik/Williams fight and potential MW unification.

Martinez isn't a natural Middleweight; he's not going to be the next Carlos Monzon.

You know what's sad?, the signature of yours is basically Toney's reign at heavyweight all in that two seconds GIF. That's all he did right there, dance, clown, eat, fart and all that kind of worthless stuff. The saddest part of it all is that there were people clapping and laughing at the major failure we all had to witness.

His fight with Paul Williams was fight of the year worthy though and Paul Williams was a big enough Middleweight. You never know, if he's making the weight then it's his own problem, natural or not he made the challenge and got it. Can't perform in a fight of the year type of fight if he doesn't belong there.

but you don't have to be nowhere near as good as carlon monzon to beat pavlik.

And I don't think Pavlik will do well at 168, his main advantage at 160 is his size & power, both of which are average at 168.
