If Pavlik wins tonight should he go after Hopkins?

Nah. The man is a middleweight and should remain there for the next couple of years. Unless an option at a title fight at 168 comes up.

I'm not sure if getting raped by Hopkins again is going to do much for Pavlik.

Im not saying one loss will make him crap, but surely the manner of his first defeat and for his own ego he needs Bhop? Sure he can go onto great things without but all great champs want to avenge their losses and he is one of the lucky ones that i think he has a chance to make it happen and he has a good opportunity?

Its Bute or bust for me..I'm telling you, HBO is banking on both of these guys looking spectacular tonight so they can set up a mega fight in the fall. Bute wont have any significant fights after tonight so why not Pavlik?

I honestly don't have any interest in seeing Kelly fighting another blown up jr middleweight. He destroys Paul Williams imo

    No.

    He will be humiliated.

The best he could do is scrape a win against an 806 year old.

that would be dumb. Hopkins just totally has Pavlik's number and would still school him when he is 50 years old.. and that's coming from a big Pavlik fan.

Hopkins has made a lot of noise about Bute lately. As a huge Pavlik fan I would love to see Bute beat Hopkins, and then Pav step up and beat Bute. That would leave KP at 3-0 against guys who beat Hops, and Kelly would not have to deal with the ****ed up risk/reward situation. He'd have 3 very good wins over guys who beat the man who took his zero. That's an unlikely scenario, but not impossible.

Hell yes Kelly should. Even if the rematch doesn't happen, it'll look better on him to try and reverse the ass kicking he got the first time around than to run off with his tail between his legs while Hopkins is still active. Fighters lose, and I don't think it's ever a bad idea to go after a rematch in most instances. This falls under the rule, not the exception. If Pavlik's convinced he had an off night, there's no better way to prove it than to at least pursue a chance at redemption.

That doesn't mean he should go after Hopkins exclusively. Kelly should also go after Paul Williams and potentially Bute or Sturm, as well. Keep the options open, and despite fighting in a shallow division at the top, good matchups can still be made.

He should but he should also realize that he won't beat Hopkins. Stylewise, Hopkins is all wrong for Pavlik. Hopkins will probably be able to beat him when he's 50.

But i'm sure the fight would generate a good amount of interest and money, which i know Hopkins is looking for.
