If PBF defeated Cotto in impressive fashion, who else should fight before he retires?

This is just a hypothetical question. All roads lead to this fight happening within the next two years and during this time Im sure Cotto will establish himself as an elite pound for pound fighter. Also he will become a huge draw. If Mayweather silenced his critics and defeated Cotto in impressive fashion, what more does he have to accomplish, and who else should he fight?? I for one think that if he defeated Cotto he should fight Sugar Shane Mosley and retire. He doesnt have much else to accomplish in the ring.

I agree there would be nothing else to prove and he could retire in his prime with all his wits.

Mosley is a good fighter now, not great, but in 2 years time, he would be what, 39? Nah, Mayweather beating him won't do much for him.

If he was able to defeat Cotto and do it an impressive fashion, then I don't see anyone else he would have to beat. Like you said, Cotto should establish himself as a pound 4 pound elite fighter within the next 2 years and you would potentially have the 2 best WW's in the world going at it to see who is the best pound 4 pound fighter out there. I think him beating Cotto would definitely help his legacy out a lot more.

It all hinges on which fights are made over the next few months. If Cintron beats Margo and then beats Clottey and one more tune up, I'd say Cintron. If Clottey beats Margo in a rematch and then maybe Collazo, I'd say Clottey. It all depends.

IMO it would be the biggest welterweight fight since Leonard-Hearns. We just all need to be patient even though the wait sucks. I love both guys, total opposites personality wise but all business in the ring. If he defeated Cotto and retired undefeated he has to be considered a true all-time great.

You think it's a bigger fight than Trinidad-DLH? I think it's just a bit below that, but I can see where you're coming from.

Honestly i think it would be bigger than Trinidad-DLH. I think it would do more buys on PPV as well. Mayweather at this point is more accomplished than both DLH-Trinidad at that point of their careers. Cotto is also the perfect foil to stop Mayweather's momentum, a true future great.
