theres no denying mayweathers talent. i hate the way he acts now. When he started, he took no gimme's. Manfredy, hernandez, Corrales, Castillo. That mayweather was very impressive in my eyes, the man ducked no one.

Its not the same mayweather anymore, its all about money now. Hes fighting nothing but old guys. How many of those guys that hes beat since he moved up to 140 really had a chance to beat him(besides Judah)?

Even if he beats Cotto(which i thoght he can) he still cant make claims of greatness. He still needs to fight other big names, Margo for example. Styles make fights. Just cause you beat one man doesnt mean you can beat everyone they have fought.

Like one of the posters above said hes not putting hes 0 to the test.

As if right now I think Cotto is the man at welter.
Compare the welters hes beat to the welters mayweather has beat.

PBF has started losing his ATG status already.... He needs guys like Cotto if he wants to move up on that ATG list !!

PBF is already a top 30 ATG whether he faces Cotto or not. Cotto will only enhance his already great legacy.:deal

To be the Champ, you have to act like, and BE THE CHAMP.

This requires you periodically going out and taking care of the pubilc's perception of your number 1 challenger.

Sometimes it backfires on you.......like when Ali called out Joe Frazier....and what he got was JOE FRAZIER.

But that didn't stop Ali from being the dominant heavy of the 70's.

PBF has a chance right now to be a very revered fighter, or he can be remembered in negative way come ten years from now.

Who was, or will be, the drawing card in his ODH,Hatton or Cotto fights?

It is all in Floyd's court.

Floyd's not the best ever anything....OK, maybe Spr FW. That's it. He's not even the best WW today... Who cares...Floyd's a non-factor @ 147 and only wants to ***** himself out to the highest bidder. We have guys who WANT to fight..Floyd's not one of them. He could have retired after Castillo II and his career woulda been the same.

I'll get really pissed off about it, if both PBF and Cotto come out victorious next and PBF fights Hatton or anyone else instead of Cotto then I'll be pissed and question it. Though if he decides to retire then it's his choice, he has done more than enough to need someone like Cotto, if anything it's Cotto that needs him and you know it. :smoke

Some here take the hate on Floyd way too far, some defend him far too much.

My take on Floyd's legacy is that he has two, that of the lower divisions (130-135lbs) and that of the higher divisions (147lbs namely). His legacy in the lower weights is not disputable, he is an ATG and for those saying he fought nobody thats almost disrespectfull to the sport.

His legacy at 147lbs leaves something to be desired. Its not terrible as some say but it leaves something to be desired because the best haven't been fought. This can be cleaned up if he fights Cotto (win or lose). Even if he gets a loss on his record, he legacy would be more in tact than if he leaves the division with the question marks that still exist.

I have no problems with PBF at 130 only!

135=He beat one champion (most feel he split a pair)!

    140=Gatti is his highlight!

Gatti was the best fight available at 140.

He should be known for being ducked at 140.

And because of that I'm suppossed to give Floyd more credit for his lack of accomplishments at that weight!:think

Floyd tried to make other fights, you can't really blame him if you don't know what happened. Floyd called out Hatton but was turned down and if you forgot it was Hatton/his father and trainer saying that Hatton isn't ready yet and needs AT LEAST 2 more fights. 2 more fights = 1 year?, you think Floyd will wait?, Floyd then called out Cotto and got a "too green" turn-down message. Also the majority of boxing fans claimed Floyd is scared TO DEATH from Judah and will never take that fight(Freddy-wak and the many who believed will remember these days really well) so Floyd moved up, also polls on various sites seemed to show that the majority would rather see Judah/Floyd than Hatton/Floyd. Floyd moves up and beats his tune-up but Judah fails to beat his and the rest is history.

I'm fine with what PBF did at 135lbs, going straight for the best when entering the division and doing it twice.

Agreed at 140lbs... this isn't even a division I give much thought to Floyd being in. As Eze said he was ducked, but he isn't being ducked at 147lbs and is not going against the best, so I have mixed feelings about it.

    All that is pointless!

We are talking about what he actually accomplished not what he may have wanted to accompish.

    It's really quite that simple!:deal

IMO Floyd is the best boxer of this generation, full stop. If he fights and defeats Cotto his ATG standing will be higher.
