James Degale caught a lot of flack for his performance against Piotr Wilcewski in October and whilst I agree he didn't box to the the best of his ability I think that was because Piotr was a lot cleverer and better than many people thought he would be, I'm not a Degale fan but to be fair to him he showed a lot of heart and guts in that fight and to say he was in with a veteran European champion in only his twelfth fight and to win the fight deserves some credit.

Piotr fights former world ruler Arthur Abraham on Saturday, if Piotr beats Abraham does Degale's stock go up you reckon?

If he wins, yes... DeGale's stock rises a little bit.

But keeping things in perspective, Abraham's stock plummeted massively during the Super Six. The fact that he's back to fighting at this level tells you he didn't belong at elite.

    And Abraham will win anyway.

Not really, because Abraham isn't good enough at SMW that a win over him automatically has a ripple effect felt by past opponents.

All he really has to do to beat Abraham (assuming the judges are fair) is not get knocked out.

Wilk is clearly more skilled than Abraham.

It's literally just a question of can he survive twelve rounds...:think

If Shannan Taylor (stopped six times) and LaJuan Simon (KTFO in two minutes flat by Golovkin) can go 12 with Abraham, why can't Wilczewski do it with an older, slower, bloated, and even shyer on the trigger Abraham?

To be fair to Abraham he has the power to hurt anyone at 168, he just shells up too long to get anything done

I feel it does slightly but nothing major, as IB said AA hasn't been great at SMW but he's still hard to beat at world level due to his special quality being power.

I think the performance from DeGale in that fight was the important thing. Grinded it out when the chips were down against a decent experienced operator. You could see it wasn't a good technical display but showed raw mineral's.

Abraham's SMW record is appalling, he literally only has one half decent win over Taylor who had nothing left at the weight.

It's telling that the guy who got hyped trough the ceiling by some only a year ago now has to rely on 2nd hand achievements to boost his stock.

AA isn't all that on SMW, and he will still win by the way.
