If post 1950 heavyweight Champions drew the color line

    The coloured heavyweight champions were a mixed bag.

    Jackson, Langford and Wills were all time greats in their own right.

    Then you have guys like Martin, who were fine fighters, but clearly not in the class of the champion.

    Then you have guys who were just second or third taters, who didn't deserve a title shot.

    Why is it always a black and white issue, blacks were just as guilty of avoiding the best black fighters what say you about SRR, Joe Lous, Jack Johnson. And each, black or white avoided the best blacks cos there was high risk low reward. This is called professional boxing for a reason, the green drives boxing then as now. I see the current crop of Cubans, Rigo and Lara being avoided for the same reason. Stop trying to rewrite history and if you are then downgrade Louis, Robinson and Johnson cos they did exactly the same thing.
