Undefeated Olympic Gold Medalist...and # 1 ranked by WBA if he beats Chagaev. Povetkin would then hold wins over Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, and Chris Byrd on his resume. While some may think Povetkin has no chance, he at least brings more to the table than pretty much anyone else out there. I think Wlad beating Povetkin would improve his legacy a lil bit. I can't think of another fight out there for Wlad that would improve his legacy right away. Arreola? Naaa Helenius? Not ready Boystov? Nope

I guess Wlad would want that, but not the other way 'round.

He'll probably try to "Haye out" his belt until he fights one of the brothers, while Teddy insults them in the meantime.

Povetkin is good, & he needs to fight Wlad ASAP after beating Chagaev. Sadly Povetkin has not fought anyone remotely good by any means since Chambers way back in '08! So after he gets past the washed-up lethargic Chagaev, he should fight Wlad a few months later.

Boytsov's stock is plummetting with me.
I know he's coming off of an injury but he still has been too inactive.

I think it should've been Povetkin vs. Boytsov for a title shot at Wlad. Povetkin hasn't beaten anybody worth **** since '08, & Boystov has never beaten anyone good, but they are both decent challengers.

100% agree with this. It would not only be the obvious choice but the wba would also mandate it within 18 months.

His resume against top 5 opposition would then be peter, byrd (x2), iggy, chag, chambers, haye and povetkin. Plus mercer, rahman and the peter rematch were a few years removed from a top 5 position.

That demonstrates a fantastic level of dominance.

Povetkin was so dominant as an amateur and as a pro he looked really promising at first, beating the likes of Byrd and Chambers. It´s a shame that he is not willing to fight Wlad. I would even give him a decent shot with his pressure non stop punching style. Really sad, that he isn´t man enough.

Well, fair's fair. If we're saying that, then the inverse should hold true:
If Chagavev beats Povetkin...he should be Wlad's next title defense. :deal

I don't think there's a way to force Povetkin to take the fight with Wlad. Povetkin and Sauerland will happily defend the "regular" WBA title against a bunch of WBA bums while never mentioning Wlad.

Right now, if Povetkin beats Chagaev, he would be the biggest win out there for Wlad. Povetkin is still a top 5 heavyweight and if he were to beat Chagaev he'd be seen as a very credible challenger. I don't think they fight next, Wlad seems really interested in coming back the the States and facing Arreola which would give Povetkin time to make a defense of his belt and then maybe next spring Wlad-Povetkin could be a big and important fight.

Now, if Adamek pulls the upset over Vitali, he'd be seen as the biggest challenge out there. Adamek is already top 10 and top 5 to many and has a couple solid wins of his own. If Adamek were to put a win over Vitali on his record his stock would soar and make Wlad-Adamek a huge fight.

Most of the other top guys out there Wlad has already beaten and beating them again won't do a whole lot for him when all is said and done. Guys like Chambers, Haye, Chagaev, Thompson would all be good wins but he's already beaten them. Arreola would be a nice win for Wlad but nothing great.

Povetkin carefully waited for a chance to get a belt WITHOUT fighting a K brother. Now people assume the first thing he does is face Wlad after he gets a belt?

Won't happen. Povetkin will fight a bunch of nobodies, hoping Wlad retires or otherwise disappears.
