Could you, would you officially say "Povetkin is ducking Wlad"? I usually dont agree with statements of 1 boxer "Ducking" another boxer BUT? Rumors of Team Povetkin saying "Povetkin needs more tune up fights" He has had a year for those tune ups thoughts!
Hmmmmmmm. I just read an article where Steward was pushing Arreola as the next opponent. Povetkin is as ready as he will ever be. I was hoping to see Atlas and his crazy antics/speeches in the corner for this fight. It is also interesting that Goosen has both Arreola and Chambers.
I thought he got the shot too fast. The IBF moved him on too quick. He beat an old Byrd and a good chambers and Estrada i think he needs 2 or 3 more fights at the top level before Wald
Let's see what happens. I get the hunch team Povetkin wants another fight, and would rather see Wlad vs Chambers next. However if Povetkin is called for his mandatory, he can not pull out a second time...as that is a clear case of ducking.

Honestly Chef I was very skeptic about that first injury thing too. Povetkin is scared to death like most of them..
If the reason he gives is that he needs more fights then acusing him of ducking is a bit like saying Obama is an American spy is it not.............It's a bit different if he was saying some nonsense like "there was a problem with the contract" or something when in reality he just didn't fancy his chances. Povetkin has only had 17 pro fights, it isn't a lot of fights for a #1 contender, maybe he's risen through the rankings a bit too quickly. I think most people agree that there is a big gulf between the Klitschkos and almost all the rest of the division and Povetkin has maybe found himself in an awkward position of not being good enough to fight Wlad yet but still having more right to than anyone else out there.
If he pulls out again then he needs his #1 IBF contender status removed. He's been active so I don't know what the excuse is.
i say he should take his time and get at least 1 or 2 more decent tuneups. somone like Brewster, or Meehan.
He got injured and required surgery, it's only reasonable for him to require a few tune ups to make sure he's 100% rather than go in and risk all being below 100%. Abraham nearly got the shot to Pavlik back when he beat Miranda but was pushed out of the picture because of the jaw injury/surgery and was forced to have a tune up before stepping up like Povetkin by the IBF. Injuries don't happen in boxing only but all sports, maybe more in boxing because it's more physical than some other sports.
Steward knows, that Klitschkos next mandatories Povetkin and chambers are both fighters Klitschko can“t gain any respect. Both are more or less solid but boring technicians Klitschko will beat in Chagaev style. So Arreola would be a little bit a burner.
