Yes but even a past prime 39 year old Povetkin is still very dangerous and skilled and a top 3 HW so it's a very creditable win for AJ over a really good fighter. 39 year old Povetkin>>> 38 year old Luis Ortiz (Ortiz is actually 48) and any version of Povetkin who was a much better and more accomplished amateur than Ortiz and he's much more accomplished and proven over a consistent basis as a pro as well.
Usyk will never win AJ, he can win on points but the British referees won't count his slaps. In Britain AJ can be defeated only by KO.
I don't think he would win but he would probably last a couple more rounds, he would always get overpowered.
No, i dont think it was his age that lost him this fight. The tempo set last night was pretty much his as he had most the control over it and even when AJ had spells on top he didnt seem to try to alter the pace of anything. Povetkin was not blown out of energy by the 7th. He seemed to take a breather in the 6th but i see many a young fighter doing the same. If this had gone 12 Povetkins age will of really come in to effect at some point but it wasnt really showing much at that point in the fight. 1, Are we giving Joshua no credit for all those energy sapping jabs to the chest or any of the work he put in? Its just cuz Povetkin is 39? 2, Everybody seems to claim Joshua has the stamina of a 39 year old himself anyway so surely it all evens out.
