Nice thought Fergy! I see 60s Ali drowning him, either points or stoppage. Maybe late 50s Liston, who was a tad better boxer than George, could outmanoeuvre him into the later rounds (via strenght and power) and win. In a shoot-out, Foreman imo stops Liston. I don´t see Louis beating him. The rest is pretty much toast.
Only maybe 4 have a chance : Jeffries, Louis, The Rock, and Liston, the rest would get blown away IMHO. Should I have thrown in Dempsey?? keep well.
I agree with your assessments. And I see JJ Walcott as potentially getting an upset victory. Would still make Foreman the favourite in this fight, though.
I would give Joe Louis and Sonny Liston the best chance. Another one I wouldn’t totally count out is Ezzard Charles. The man was fast, crafty, durable and went many rounds against a lot of big punchers like Elmer Ray, Archie Moore, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and Nino Valdez among others.
He would lose to Louis, Liston and Ali. Johnson and Dempsey would be his toughest wins, Baer would be his most exciting win and everyone would be lunch meat.
I'd be surprised if many made him favourite over Louis. Not sure, maybe not. Joe could be dropped early, I always said, if Braddock could drop him in the first, what could Foreman do?! I stll make Joe the favorite tho.
One of Joe Louis’s weaknesses as a young fighter was his tendency to get careless. By 1938-39 he wasn’t as prone to getting in trouble as much anymore.
The prime versions of Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Liston and Ali, of course, should beat him. The rest he probably beats.
Foreman stops Dempsey after an incredible war. Foreman might have lost to tunney, but i wouldn't write him off . 50/50. He Knocks Max Schmeling, Jack Sharkey, Primo Carnera out. Baer vs Foreman would have been another way, and believe the one who lives the ring as the winner would be George. He beat Braddock, i would favor him over Joe Louis, but not always if They fought in a series of fights. Ezzard charles is also a very dangerous opponent for foreman, but i thinks it's a 49/51 fight in favor of Ezzard. Same thing with Jersey Joe Walcott, he might have outpointed him. Foreman, however, would have overpowered the hell out of Marciano and knocks him out in the second round, a beating ala fraizer. Same thing with Floyd and Ingo. Foreman then would meet Sonny Liston, and he would get stopped late. Foreman also lose to 1960's Muhammad ali handily. I think he beat Terrel, but only just. He probably beats Ellis. And at the end, he meet Frazier and...do i have to say anything about this matchup?
Yea, on reflection Rocky would have been too small, lol against Jeffries is a bit harsh, he was a big durable, strong , iron chinned HW who was impervious to punishment , so maybe, just maybe... keep well.
