Why the hell is Britain third when they have more golds than anyone else?

Cuz everyone knows it goes on total medals, not just gold alone. And besides it's bull**** if you think Ricky "el luchador" Hatton takes The Magic Man under Olympic rules.

Calzaghe would be in trouble in the Olympics. Amateur gloves have a white spot which should be the impact point of punches. This makes it clear what are legal shots and what are not. Plus he wouldn't be able to carefully pick his opponents. Can you imagine what would happen?

Olympic official: "You have Dawson in the first round"
Calzaghe: "No, I want to fight Roy Jones"
Olympic official: "No, it's Dawson and if you win that it's Tarver"
Calzaghe: "Nope. Jones then Sugar Ray Leonard"

    What the ****?

They don't seem to take into account the amateur system. At all. How the hell is Margarito getting silver?

I don't think much of Hatton at all actually and would only back Haye to bring back gold. My point is that in the Olympics it goes on total gold medals.

It can't just go on total medals, by that logic getting 10 bronze would score higher than getting 9 golds which is ridiculous.

They seem to have done it on "points". I assume three for gold, two for silver etc. This doesn't make much sense because the Olympic medal table goes on golds and silvers are only used to separate countries with the same gold medal count.

Gentlemen, I didn't make up the rules. It's been this way for years, no one's trying to pull the wool over your eyes. The ranking order goes by total medals and then there is the breakdown of those medals into types (Gold, Silver, Bronze). I know and understand your complaint and it does have some validity but how many silvers equal a gold? Or how many bronzes? That's what makes it so tough. But don't fret, gentlemen, as the US is planning on winning the most Gold and total medals out of all the countries competing so there can be no discrepancy as to who the clear cut winner of these Olympic Games is. :good

you know what, i would be surprised if sam peter did well. foreman did very well in the olympics as some might remember, so just cause a guy is a ko artist doesnt necessarily mean hes at a disadvantage in the AM.

Except Sam Peter's KO punches are rabbit punches and slaps. He'd be DQ'd in the Olympics if he used the style he uses now.

and there's also the comparison of peter to foreman, two completely different classes of fighters, the foreman of 1990 would give peter a good beating nevermind a prime foreman.

No quantity of silvers equals a gold. The aim is to win. Whichever country gets most golds tops the medal table. Quite simple really.
