Sadly not. It would be like Froch beating Bute, people would start talking about how shite and over-hyped Broner was instead of how much of a force Rees is.

He could become a huge name in the UK though, it would set up an absolutely epic unification against Burns in the summer if he beats Vasquez.

really there are many examples of british fighters winning that would equal or eclipise rees beating a guy like broner.

it would be on that scale for sure. We are long overdue another upset like that.

It would be up there because of the supposed gulf,which seems pretty similar to me.

 

There's a chance he might but that's a big "If".

 

The big difference is that every one of those guys went in there having a good shout of winning.

 

naww. There's not a flicker of interest in this fight from any of the casual boxing fans that i've spoken to about it. They're like 'Gavin Who is fighting who?'

 

I think it would be seen as a massive win against the odds by boxing fans. Regardless he'd be set. Burns would want a crack at him and you'd expect Broner would want a rematch.
Couple of huge fights there and if he won both he'd still be shy of a superstar but reasonably well known to casuals.

 

Rees isn't ever going to be a household name but if he beats Broner everyone will be talking about him and he could get some big pay days off the back of that one win and retire a fairly wealthy man.

I assume Broner would have a rematch clause and the Burns fight would be huge too over here as a unification.
