Its a huge "if" though jake mate.

I'm just gonna sit back and watch the Vazquez fight before talking ideal situations. We dont live in an ideal world. And its likely Ricky could get beat at this hurdle, nevermind Broner.

    140, he has the size

Still getting ahead of ourselves, Vasquez is not only a tough fight but an awkward style

Better question, if Burns beat Broner, would that win rank higher than Calzaghes win over Lacy?

Hands up who thinks yes? ;)

No not all time but yes in current P4P list.
To be fair though Broner was willing to fight him on numerous occasions and he declined. I gather FW has alot to do with this.

he would move up to light welter.

I think he will finish his career at 140.

Depends on how the victory comes, if Burns were to somehow beat Broner from pillar to post it would.

If he beats Vazquez and Broner he deserves to be ranked P4P, just as if Broner beat either one of them I think a P4P ranking would be justified.

And to the tit saying the gap in class between Burns and Vazquez is huge and using examples of Vazquez losing, since when do losses contribute to resume?

Nowhere near top 10 British boxers of all time, but he'd certainly be seen as one of the top 10 fighters p4p.

I dont believe for 1 minute Burns is terrified of Broner, hes an improving fighter, and like nearly all fighters will fight anyone,i think Billy is more terrified, and if he isnt,he should be.

Just seen this discussion, mentioned my thoughts in another one.Said that IMO if he beats Vasquez,Id rate him very highly in the British all time list, probably above Jim Watt and below Ken Buchanan, which, for me,is right up there.Think his improvement since losing to Alex Arthur and Carl Johanneson has been tremendous, and credit to him for that.Again only my opinion, but wins over those 2 would put him over{gonna get shot for this}Randolph Turpins one massive win.Hope he can,but a tough ask.

So why have HBO said he priced himself out? Not only that, but Broner and management said exactly the same thing. AND Eddie Hearn.

Ricky said 5 weeks wasn't enough, right?

But would have took the fight if they paid the rate he thinks he is worth?

I hope we get the fight after Vazquez so Broner can shut you lot up, but lets face it, he aint getting past this hurdle and even if he pulled of the miracle of biblical proportions, we all know we'd be getting Liam Walsh, Scott Harrison or a Kevin Mitchell rematch.

Laugh at that in the gym. :good
