If Ricky Hatton had beaten Mr.Mayweather back in 2007, would his resume beat Joe's?

If Hatton beat Mayweather, Pacquiao would still be a Lightweight because Hatton would've got in on the De La Hoya sweepstakes.

    We'd currently be on Marquez-Pacquiao 15.

So, would Hatton (assuming he somehow went Super-Saiyan enough to beat Mayweather) stand a chance with the gearing-down (but we'll assume not skeletal & weight-drained version) De La Hoya? :think

Of course...Hatton would've been the absolute shizzle after beating Floyd, p4p-rated and all.
Manny Pac would be top10-ATG now with his annihilation of Hatton afterwards.

Many American fans will say Hatton has a better resume, due to the fact that they cant take the fact Calzaghe beat Hopkins and Jones for some reason, rather than just admire a great boxer.

    Look at both their wins

Hattons best win is probably K Tsyzu. A good win but Tsyzu had not fought many rounds in the year leading up and was 36 at the time. Compare that to Calzaghes win over Eubank who had also like Tsyzu beaten rival champs, had more world title fights, had never been KOd and was 31. It then becomes a debateable arguement which was better, but a fair answer here would be Hattons win over Tsyzu.

Hattons next best win is possibly Malignaggi, which is not as good as several of Calzaghes, but I will say Kessler

Hattons other wins are Collazo, Maussa, Urango, Castillo but that doesnt compare with Hopkins, Lacy, Mitchell, Jones, Brewer, Veit, Reid, Woodhall to name a few, not including Sheika, Bika etc

Overall its very clear Calzaghes resume is greater, but had Ricky have beaten the excellent Mayweather, it could possibly have tipped it the other way... But he didnt

Moving up in weight and defeating the best fighter in the world?

Yes, that would put him above Calzaghe.

In reality - both Hatton and Calzaghe are padded record boxers who are bums in comparison to all time greats.

Hatton's best wins are a shell of Castillo, Malignaggi a C level fighter, washed up Tzsyu who never beat anyone in the first place (Zab is a paper champion), and got viciously knocked out when he finally fought top level competition.

Calzaghe's best wins are - washed up RJJ, padded record Lacy who got finished by a washed up RJJ, Kessler who only beat Froch - another overrated bum, and he got a gift decision against Hopkins that Bernard easily won. Even if someone does foolishly think that Calzaghe beat Hopkins, how impressive is a boxing career in which a split decision win over a 43 year old geezer is your best accomplishment?

Both these resumes are equally weak. If Hatton did become a blind squirrel that found an acorn in the form of a win vs Floyd, that would far outdo anything Calzaghe did in his equally weak career.

Calzaghe came to Hopkins' country, fought him with biased judges and kicked Hopkins' arse....................if Hopkins was washed up years ago, then what about Hopkins now? Calzaghe beat Hopkins and it wasn't even close.........

What's with the obsession with Calzaghe?
