Most ESBs would say that Rickys eating habits have caught up with him and although he can still make the 140 weight, the effect is that he looks awfully weak at weigh in and his punch resistance is affected. Therefore would have to move up - I guess he wants to win a title then retire, but who would he have his best shot against?

Hatton is IMO too small a guy to be up against the top welters, who all hold physical advantages on him.

I don't think he should fight again. He's nothing to prove. He was a top light welter, and all he could realistically achieve is topping the division again (which is something he's already done). He will never beat an elite level fighter (there is only a handful of these about all weight division at any given point in time). Although I'm sure he could do a job at a world level still... However is their any point? He's proved beyond doubt he was a world level fighter, and his little questions to answer. He's only ever lost to the P4P #1 fighters.

He should retire while he still a young, healthy man with a good reputation, wealth and popularity. Going on would risk these things (well perhaps not wealth). He's a legend for what he's brought to the sport of boxing outwith the ring. Hatton, and to a lesser degree Calzaghe, rekindled boxing interest in working class Britain. IMO that his biggest legacy.

I couldnt agree more but the fact is he will fight at least once more. Berto would be my choice, he can be hurt by temple shots which Ricky can deliver

Berto is the only guy at or near the top of the WW division that Ricky could possibly be evenly matched with. Berto fights in spurts and is on the short side. If it's not Berto, Ricky should retire.

Marquez wouldn't be a bad fight for him.

Not saying he'd win, but Marquez is also somebody who has also maybe considered to of failed on that final step (admittely less spectacularly that Hatton).

Also physically, the two are of similar proportions.

Maybe as a confidence booster he could therefore instead try and prove who is the best 147 born in his family and fight his brother.

so effetively what some of you huggers are saying is that he's too weak at 140 and too small at 147.:patsch

how about this, and it ain't even that complicated.......he was never much good in the first place.

He doesn't belong in 147 anyways, even before the Floyd fight you can see he was struggling even against someone like Collazo.

He doesnt belong at 147 true but because hes a fat **** between fights he is now ****ed at 140...

    So

He needs to fight someone at 147 who has come up in weight like him, not a natural welter.... Berto is the best match , P4PGOAT also agrees
