He should just wear an American Flag...people will soak him up and cheer for him.

About as fluent as Chavez Sr.
Maybe Rigo should embark on a Tony Montana style publicity campaign.Unbelievable how the young cardboard gangsters still adore that movie.Every mobile phone shop near me still has the posters in the window and on sale.
On a more serious note,Rigo doesn't have a great deal of time left to build a fan base.Would be sad if such a talented fighter went out of the game being known for being unable to sell tickets.I thought him and Gamboa would be much bigger than they are.

Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles was an Afro-Cuban that was loved by his adopted country of Mexico. Check him out down here celebrating one of his victories with his Mexican sombrero.

The thing with Rigon, even if he were to move down to Mexico, like Napoles did, he might not get the same support and respect because of his fighting style. Mexicans, for the most part, tend to favor a more aggressive style.

Cubans dont support their fighters. They dont even come over the short distance from Cuba for their fights.

Well, genius. It isn't that easy to defect from Cuba, is it?

Mexicans want another Olivarez, Sanchez, and Chavez. They do appreciate technical ability but it needs to come with a bang! Napoles popularity doubled because of his popularity in Mexico. Hell they even made him a movie star! A fighter like Rigo or Nonito would have to live in Mexico in order to get that type of loyal support. Just like Romanian Bute is in Canada and Ukrainian Klitschkos are in Germany. They like the adopted sons. You want the support? Live there or live like one. At least from casual fans. Hardcore fans don't give a ****.

Rigo in Germany I think is the best move to make him huge. Germans really do appreciate the technical game. Believe me, if Sturm is huge over there, Rigo would be a celebrity. His manager might want to train him abit in public relations he gots that stone cold face may want to smile every now and then he reminds me of the grinch. Like he might actually have trouble to smile. Lol. I think he'd do better financially in Europe. Not the first time Cubanos make Europe their second home.

Cubans don't draw well. Don't know what it is. Maybe their fans should buy tickets? Beats me.

Rigo has support in Cuban communities. It is just that they haven't promoted him properly and his style and personality are not the most fan friendly.

If i was rigondeaux manager i would move his training camp to mexico with the excuse that i want to get away from things in the US. Start working in the community going out running and talking to people. Do some charity work and tv workouts and after a while when he fights i make him dedicate the fight to the community where he trained. Before long he'll have tons of fans supporting him all the way some will even support him even if he fights a mexican. That's how they do it in any industry to gain support from the locals.
