Hopkins handpicked, but he did fight Trinidad when Tito was on a momentum. I don't think Jones would have fought Tito at that time. And Hopkins fought Pavlik. Jones would not have . Or Wright. Jones like Mayweather avoided the hungry fighters who could have beaten him. Jones could have fought Benn or Eubank and never did.

They also made offers to Sven Ottke who refused each time.

Lacy was a big fight and a name opponent

At the time Joe did pursue a fight with Jones

You know Hopkins could have faced Calzaghe at SMW, and still got the fight with Oscar 2 years later at MW. Just concede instead of making us go around in circles. $3m was a career high payday for Hopkins, if you want 'no name' fighter, look at the guy he faced instead (Morrade Hakkar for $200k!). It was a disgraceful duck.

    Example:

In 1956 aged 40 years old, Archie Moore faced George Parmentier, Sonny Andrews and Gene Thompson, he weighed 193, 190 and 189 respectively for these fights. Then in his next fight (2 months later) he weighed Yolande Pompey at LHW and he weighed 174 for this fight. He did this again in 1957, going between 190 and 175 pounds regularly and was strong and he won all of these fights that I'm talking about

Now think of the advances in nutrition and technology between 1956 and 2002. If Archie Moore at the age of 40 and 41 could do this in 1956 in a matter of 2-3 months, then Bernard Hopkins could have done this between 2002-2004! Moore had to gain and lose 16 pounds, Hopkins only had to gain and lose 8! :deal

None of the tv networks wanted Hopkins-Hakkar. It was looked at as another Jones-Frazier fight. Showtime agreed to buy the fight if Hopkins agreed to fight Simon(wbo champion) and Calzaghe.

Hopkins turned it down. So in the end King was able to sell the fight as part of a package deal to HBO. All those people who are talking about dlh are using misdirection tactics

Because Hopkins does not have a delusional fanbase that thinks he's the GOAT.

Did the same the steve Collins apparently.

Collins said he would have fought RJJ in a phonebooth infront of just a man and his dog

The thing with Jones was after his first fight with Griffin he realised that he needed to beat the guy clearly then avoid any people who had skills and would try to box him that's why everything was nicely hand picked by him all the way to HW. He was done taking risks.
