would he have got the same amount of respect as Calzaghe if he domitated him? In 2008 Roy made 169.5 against Trinidad. In his 3rd fight with Tarver, he weight 173, so it wouldnt have been unimaginable that Roy could have made 168 at that time. After suffering 3 losses, would that have been precieved as a giant feat? i think it would have, and I think he could have, hypothetically. Roy was the 1st person to move up from middleweight and win title in evey weightclass to win a heavyweight title and come back down and reclaim the light heavyweight title. Regaining the supermiddleweight title would have been an unbreakable record imo.

nope. everyone would expect it from roy because people have higher expectations for greater fighters. no thought calzaghe was anything but a protected european bum (which isn't too far off), so because he shocked everyone and dominated the one dimensional untested lacy, people worship him.
it's the story of life. low expectations = high satisfaction. if calzaghe was on the same level as roy, a victory over lacy would be meaningless. afterall, 40 year old roy KOed Lacey.

Roy would've never chosen an unworthy foe such as Lacy. Even as champ, Lacy was fortunate to be televised on Showtime. HBO obviously never bothered.

Oh yeah, because Roy only fought great fighters during his prime.

Plus, he faced Lacy AFTER he was exposed by Calzaghe.:patsch
