Hopefully there would be a rematch and clazaghe would win and a little bit of gleam wouldve been taken off his legacy, not THAT much mind. How much is Rahman remembered? How much do you think Prescott will be remembered?
Probably would have done Calzaghe the world of good, wouldnt have been scared to lose again, meaning he would have fought the best sooner. He would definitly have a better legacy now had this been the case
it was a very close fight, you can bet they would have been a rematch in ried's very next fight, calzaghe would have boxed better and won by a bigger margin and that would have been the end of robin ried's 15 minutes of fame.
Reid beat Cal by a point or two and should have got a wide desision win over Ottka he could have been a unifide champ and would be recognised as one of the best super middleweights this country has had. Sadly he sufferd from a lot of bad luck and lost those fights lets hope he wins PF and gets one last moment in the sun before he calls it quits.
Most people would've regarded it as a poor decision. It was a close but fairly clear win for Calzaghe. The fight shouldn't be regarded as contraversial imo.
I dont think reid should've had a wide decision, if memory serves me correct, he let Ottke right back into it. The ref however was one of the worst ive seen.
I thought the fight was one of those that was close, bit you couldn't have disputed the calzaghe win. Would Frank have held faith in Joe? Would we have been saying most great champions lose etc etc? Would Reid have beaten the subsequent opponents calaghe had? Orhad Reid had his legacy already by the time he had that fight?
It certainly wouldn't have done Joe any good that's for sure. There would have still likely been a reluctance for the really big fights and he'd just have a 1 on his record instead of that precious 0. Let's not forget, Calzaghe was a great boxer but the majority of his legacy relies on him staying unbeaten.
