If Rocky defeat both Sonny Liston & Floyd Patterson, how will you rank him?

  1. Two more great fighters to fight...

Imagine he beat both of them in their prime, despite being older.

I think people will stop talking on how Rocky only beat fighters past their prime.

He definitely have to be among the top 5.

Marciano beat 37 yo Joe Louis after Louis was on a tear winning 8 consecutive in dominant fashion.

PPl maintain Louis was shot, but had he beat Marciano, they'd be handsdown calling him GOAT. Hell, some already do.:-(

No way they put the rock in with the likes of Liston. His handlers would have never allowed it.

Patterson makes for an interesting fight though I fear prime Floyd is still too big.

Your post betrays how completely stupid you are. When Marciano retired, Floyd Patterson was fighting at Light Heavyweight. After Marciano retired, Cus D'Amato finally allowed Floyd to move up to Heavyweight and fight for the vacant title.

Marciano did the commentary on the Patterson-Moore fight and made sure the viewers knew about the whole scheme. He says it just 15 seconds into the video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCUkqyfUjTU

So a Patterson-Marciano fight could never have happened because D'Amato wanted no part of it (see Patterson vs Maxim and you'll understand why).

Then Ingemar Johanson knocked Patterson out, and he was a crude, no-defense version of Marciano.

As for Liston, he was a nobody when Marciano retired due to back problems. But Marciano had fought much bigger men before and he loved fighting guys who moved toward him.

The only guys who gave Marciano some trouble were three guys who moved away from him and counterpunched (Walcott, Moore, and LaStarza).

We'll allow me to explain. One the question was if he hypothetically fought prime Liston not why didn't he fight sonny Liston so you've already thoroughly embarrassed yourself there. Try to check what you're talking about before you start mouthing off.

Secondly I think Patterson carried the weight better as he got older and grew into the weight. You know how Ali did after winning light heavyweight gold. That's my opinion. Now jog on. Not sure why you had to get all worked up about it.

Marciano would beat Patterson(chin lets him down) But Liston would be too much for him to handle.

I dont see any man getting the best of Sonny Liston Toe 2 Toe .

The man was too freakishly strong to be pushed around and banged up like Marciano was notoriously known for doing to his opponents .

    Sonny decapitates Rocky .

There's no other result I can think of .

I have read that D'Amato and Marciano's people tried to put together Patterson-Marciano, but Marciano went to training camp and said he no longer had the desire so never signed the fight. Are you saying those negotiations never happened?

Patterson isn't a big Heavy, and his punch resistance wasn't the greatest. I feel the Rock takes him out within ten

Liston is a whole other ball game though, don't see Rocky overpowering Liston, however the Rock is a great fighter, would love to have seen it.

Marciano would have knocked Patterson out cold. Styles make fights.

Liston though, that's an entire different fight.

:good Sonny is sooo overrated here. Sonny had some dog in him and would likely quit on his stool or get savagely KO'ed.

    Sorry Liston fans.

Marciano was in training to come out of retirement to challenge Ingemar but changed his mind two weeks into training and Ingo signed for the Patterson rematch.

Had he beaten any or multiple of Ingo, Patterson, or Liston he would honestly be a shoe-in top 3-5 HW from even his biggest hater on Earth.
