Roy is years past his prime.

    But he still wants it.

He has gone from the highest of highs(winning the heavyweight championship of the world) to the lowest of lows(back 2 back KO losses)

    But he still wants it.

This is a man who seemingly has nothing left to prove. He has been the undisputed pound for pound king for well over a decade, winning titles from middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight, all while making it look easy with his inhuman handspeed, impregnable defense, and virtuoso combinations.

He doesn't have that anymore. But what he does have is his heart and desire back.

No one is giving him a chance.

How is he going to decision someone that is so energetic, throws constantly, and has never been defeated in his pro career? How is he going to knock him out when he hasn't had a KO victory since 2002?

Roy is out looking to prove everyone wrong. This is what great fighters do when they summon that extra something inside of them and somehow manage to come out victorious when no one thought it was possible.

If Roy somehow defeats Calzaghe, what would it do to his legacy?

It's clear as daylight that Roy can't do the things he used to do anymore.

    But he still wants it.

This is a question like asking what if Jeremy Bates had beaten Evander Holyfield.

Obviously it would catapult him leagues ahead, but it's an impossibility. Or more likely, people would just say something was wrong with Joe like he didn't train properly or something.

I think it would hurt his legacy in some ways if he beat Calzaghe now.

Calzaghe just beat Hopkins, who destroyed Tarver. Jones has always been considered old and past it when Tarver came along and shocked the world. So how would he explain beating a top 3 P4P fighter 4 years later?

If Jones beats Calzaghe it would be the best possible end for his career.

However, it won't happen: Jones' "comeback" will not have a happy ending and Calzaghe will be remembered as a Champion, with many title defenses in a weak divisions, that defeated old Hopkins and shot Jones.

Honestly near Ali-Foreman ****, maybe not quite but Roy looks finished and Joe looks like he is looking over the edge of the rollercoaster of decline but is still in awesome shape, near prime 80-90% even.

If Roy won it I would be shocked.

I think it would help his legacy. A past his prime fighter pulls it together and upsets the man to beat for a last hurrah?

It probably would help his legacy. But I guarantee some would pipe up with what I said.

ATG top 50? Hell if he somehow beat Calzaghe at this point I'd put him in the ATG top 10. The man would have done it all.

    Top 50?

Jones entered that on most peoples lists back in the late 90's early 00's.

Roy Jones proved in his last 2 fights he still has p4p boxings fastest hands. I dont see how people can write him off so quickly hes ****ing Superman for christ sake. He has his weight stabilzed and some energy back in his body. RJJ TKO 10 in USA,Wales,Zales I dont give a **** if its in my shed Roy will stomp that ass.
