Mayweather was 38 for Pacquiao. Roy was getting schooled by Calzaghe at that age.

I could point out each individual Floyd win which is equal or better than beating a weight drained James Toney, but it's too stupid of a task because he has 7x more wins over fighters on pfp lists than Jones.

If you want to go the magical "context" route like your pal London though, Floyd beat a unified, undefeated, pfp fighter while moving up to his fifth weightclass at 36. I bring this win up because Canelo himself was probably capable of beating James Toney.

Typically, you move up when you’re killing yourself to make weight. Moving up doesn’t guarantee future returns.

There’s also plenty of irony here. Toney was neither unbeatable at 168 nor 175. Throw in 160, 190, and heavyweight too.

 

I say yes, in the sense that if Roy had retired after the first match against Tarver I would have put him ahead of Floyd and Manny in a P4P ranking. Roy had beaten two great young champions (Hopkins and Toney), two very good fighters like Johnson and Hill, other good boxers, won the world title at heavyweight (in his debut in the division), then returned to light heavyweight and defeated the best light heavyweight there was, a great fighter like Tarver. His victories, in my opinion, were more significant than Mayweather's, while Pacquiao had a slightly better record in terms of defeated opponents but also had more losses (Roy only once by disqualification, avenged with a first round victory). Now, however, I have Mayweather - Pacquiao - Roy.

We both know that the Tiberi fight simply doesn’t excuse to someone trying to put Jones’ resume above Floyd’s.
