'If Ruiz follows my plan, he could win' - Carl Thompson

Look the "cat" was my boy but this is bull****. He didnt have ANY plan when he beat Haye. Haye walked in there and thought he could KO anybody. He blew his load in less than 2 rounds because he hated doing roadwork. Subsequently despite taking some hellacious shots as usual Thompson weathered the storm and came back to stop Haye who was literally about to fall over from exhaustion. Theres NO WAY that approach is going to work for Ruiz.

This bout will be more like when Haye fought Fragomeni or Johansen. Both guys were in his grill all night and Hayes performances despite getting the KO were fairly substandard. Haye doesnt like pressure. Ruiz will be in his face all night. Haye has to be ready to go the full 12 and BOX to win this fight.

Carl did have a plan and he went with the only plan he could win with. He has done it before. The Rothmann wni was him getting beat and then landing big. Thompson is too slow or technical to box so he stays in there looking for the big shot. He kept going with Haye until one had to give, Thompson ensured he was not the one who wilted first despite coming close to doing so.

 

Thing is, The Cats tactics will only work if Haye follows the same tactics as he did in that fight.

 

That first round of Thompson Haye was a great start to a fight. And they have their similarities in terms of being a little fragile around the beard but having properly concusive power... skills wise I would say Haye is a level above The Cat, but he wasn't well conditioned by the looks of it... gassing so early on.

BTW - Love The Cat, have you heard him speak? Sounds like the sweetest man! (no 'mo btw). And his fight with Ezra Sellers is still great value to watch...

 

Carl is a great guy, but what the **** would he know about beating Haye? Haye is a completely different animal to the version who faced Thompson. Carl's gameplan basically revolved around getting his **** wrecked while he waited for Haye to tire. That is no gameplan.

 

Wasn't that around the time when he admitted that he didn't even do roadwork? atsch David Haye was a silly boy but has become a sensible man since that night. Adam Booth deserves a lot of credit and respect for that.

 

I'd fancy a younger Ruiz, but the bells are starting to chime...

Still, it's still possibly one of Haye's hardest ever fights.
