There's serious talks about sergio defending against matt macklin
in NYC on St paddy's day. Macklin just signed with dibella and moved
to the big apple and the fight looks very likely for march of next year.

If this is the case then maravilla will fight, yet another, non-title holding
british domestic who is made to order for him. In his own words, martinez
said he didn't want to fight euro's who had no name recognition and whom
didn't bring $$$ to the table because of lack high profile fights. There's just no way he'd take a fight with a fighter like that, and besides they
    just haven't earned it yet.
Remember not too long ago sergio spewing this nonsense? We excused him, well at least you all did, for taking on unworthy no-hoper darren barker. Now? no pass. If he goes thru with this weak ass fight, then sergio
is a coward and a liar, as well as a hypocrite who should've never been
granted a fight with a drunk pavlik or a rematch in a fight he lost w/
    Pwill.
If he's going to stagnate the middleweight division and take on mediocre
fighters while he waits on these fictitious "superfights" that will NEVER
happen, then he needs to be stripped of the RING magazine championship
and let the killers at 160 vie for it.
Also, some dickhead writer on boxingtalk still had the audacity to claim
that sergio is an avoided guy at middleweight. Dimitry pirog has now
TWICE gone on the national media circuit and vehemently called out
martinez, but there's not even a peep of a response from dibella.
If this isn't the very definition of a duck, then I don't know what is.

Get over yourself. Macklin arguably beat Sturm, which is a better win than everything on Pirog's resume combined. He is a legitimate top 5-6 middleweight.

Additionally, given the fact that you are so enraged about Martinez's level of competition that you think he should be stripped, I can't wait to hear your evaluation of the defenses Pirog has made of the paper WBO belt (wrongfully stripped from Martinez BTW) he holds. A junior middleweight and a guy way too short for 160 who was schooled by N'Jikam. And of course, at the moment he's trying to fight Lara, another junior middle with relatively weak power for the division he's in. Boy, those guys are sure world beaters compared to Dzinziruk, Williams, and Barker. But you're right, Martinez is avoiding the guy who's never even fought any top 10 guy at 160; indeed, that's the textbook definition of duck.

Pirog has not really established himself in any significant way at 160.

St.Patrick's Day vs Macklin (why not Lee though:huh) still makes more sense money wise than Pirog.

That pretty much sums it up. But I do think Pirog poses more of a challenge to Martinez than Macklin would. It certainly can't be considered ducking when you're fighting a more accomplished and higher ranked fighter.

Macklin is with DiBella, so this fight will happen. Sergio won't get a Pac or May fight IMO so he should unify Middleweight if he can get people like Sturm to take the fight.

Indeed. I'd much prefer a fight with Pirog, but he's not unarguably the top next man to Sergio. People throw around "ducking" whenever they damn well feel like bashing a fighter or hyping up another fighter.
