for him to have a shot at greatness who does he need to beat, I think he should get a rematch with paul williams and make the score official, then fight contenders like jacobs, anthony mundine and sylvester/felix sturm, if he can still make 154 he should go back down and try and unify, if he cant he should get maywether to meet him at 160 i cant see martinez ever campaigning at 168
I'd like to see him settle the score with Williams, before campaigning back down at 154 against all the possible challenges out there. But one question though, has he or his team ever declared that 154 is becoming a difficult weight to make?
Meeting Mayweather at 160 is a pretty ridiculous idea. Floyd barely makes 154. He couldn't make 160. He should finish off Pavlik again, then settle the score with Paul Williams.
Can anyone stand to watch 12 more rounds of domination? I really hate rematches unless they are necessary like Martinez vs Williams. Pavlik Vs Martinez reminds me of Glen Johnson Vs Chad...nothing will ever change even if they fight 10 times.
Paul Williams is the next best fight for him. It would settle the score. But Him being as small as he is now opens a gate way for certain other fighters to fight him. Most notably Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather-Martinez could be a huge fight.
the only way to establish greatness without a lot of great fighters to beat is to fight a lot and win impressively.
Rematch and beat Williams. From there he should unify with Sturm and Sylvester, and then see what contenders are on the way up.
