If Shane Was smart he would set up a fight with joshua clottey ASAP!

If miguel cotto manages to beat manny pacquiao and shane mosley sets up a fight with joshua clottey and manages to beat him and beat him convincingly...this would be a great insurance plan for mosley because then he could go on to say he clearly beat the guy who beat cotto & that he wants a rematch

because no matter what happens between floyd-jmm & manny - cotto... shane is probaby going to end up on the shitty end of the stick..

if shane could beat clottey... then entice cotto for a rematch & beat cotto.... it would be a perfect set up for shane to get what he always wanted..... which is floyd

It would be a good fight, and I can't see how it would hurt Mosley's bargaining power.

    Might as well do it!

    lol

i would do it but my ****ing facebook is tripping right now... havent been able to log in for a week
mosley's bargaining power is irrelevant.. no matter who he fights he will be the B-side.... all this will do will serve as an insurance policy if cotto beats pacman...

I don't think Mosley would beat Clottey :/, plus Floyd wouldn't fight him either way.

its not even about floyd... its about ensuring himself a big name opponent... the way things are looking now floyd will take the winner of pacman vs cotto... if floyd beats jmm

shane needs to secure a big name opponent . otherwise he should retire

I think he should just retire right now, that way he retired while he was still on top. Sure he could take a rematch with Cotto, but if he loses... then he's back at the bottom again :/

it would not be a smart move. JC might beat him for a little money. He needs a prize fight coz he knew time is not on his side that if he'll lose it might be his end.

The problem with Mosley is people don't want to fight him because he is good. If he beats Clottey, everyone will think the same thing, just worse.

It is a good fight - two avoided fighters. I just hope the winner gets a good fight.

Shane mosley is smart and that is why he won't fight Clottey .
Clottey is too dangerous and i wonder if it's a money-fight because how much following will Clottey bring ? only hardcore fans know that this is a quality fight. he can also lose his WBA belt.
    businesswise its stupid.
Mosley should unify against Berto - easy fight against an undefeated fighter that will also yield him another belt and help him force the others to fight him. Isaac Hlatshwayo can be also an easy way to win a belt , but then again , mosley can win a belt and be stripped of another like anyone else , os unifying is not so smart after all.
I think that if mosley won't get a rematch with cotto soon or a fight with mayweather , he should retire - he has the money , he is not young to stay for many more years and i'd bed he won't get a rematch with cotto because cotto's handlers will want to leave him 'superior' to mosley . also mayweather won't fight him becuase he is too dangerous - fast , strong , tough , experienced and although i think mayweather should be considered the fav against mosley , mayweather won't want to take the risk , so my advise to mosley is to retire while his health intact and invest the money.

Clottey is as close to Winky as you get in todays 147lbs division.

Shane would be better off fighting someone like Berto, for PPV # and stylewise.

right but its about FORESIGHT!THE FUTURE

mosley fights & beats berto (with a risk of losing) and then what? he unifies? and beat a young up & comer who was to green to be in the ring with mosley in the first place.....

    floyd wouldnt care
    cotto wouldnt care
    pacman wouldnt care

these are the only guys shane wants to fight in the long run anyways....

mosley fights & beats clottey (with a bigger risk of losing) and then what? he can make a case that he beat a guy who beat cotto and that would put pressure on miguel cotto to face mosley in a rematch because it will be in some demand by the boxing public....

the move is an insurance plan because pretty much whatever happens floyd will face the winner of pacman & cotto

shane is on the outside looking in no matter what happens.. atleast if he has a victory over clottey he has some type of insurance policy and a way to apply pressure on cotto to get him back in the ring

first of all, Pac will probably beat Cotto anyways.

secondly, in the eyes of most and the boxing media, Cotto beat Clottey pretty clearly even though it was close.

third, there's always a chance that Clottey will give Mosley some troubles, and possibly upset him.

fourth, and most importantly, Mosley will not get a good payday fighting Clottey.

So all in all that sounds like a high risk / low reward move that no self-respecting promoter would allow to happen.
