1- i guess... like i said its an insurance plan

2 - i dont think its as unanimous as you really think... if cotto wasnt as popular as he is there woudl have been a lot more people complaining robbery.. was it ok that he won? Yes... would it have been ok that clottey won? definitely

3 & 4 - your right but if he beats berto it does absolutely NOTHING for him... nobody gives a **** because he beat someone who is green

your nothing thinking about the future... your only thinking about now

ha ha ha.. good point.. i think at this point he's either fighter berto or clottey in dec

    berto is requesting more money
clottey will fight for anything according to reports

i think clottey is the way to go if he still wants to stay in the mix for these big fights

I can't blame Berto because "more money" is what every fighter wants including Shane! GBP pockets are plenty deep to throw some more money at Berto but they are being stingy bitches.

Clottey is a overrated turd IMO. The man has no fans, no power and his punch output is ****. They need to just poney up a little more $ for Berto and get it done.

From what ive read from Dan Rafael who I cant stand but is usual right he said if the Berto fight cant get done they are looking at Clottey. Mosley doesnt want bull**** fights I mean with like fights agianst a Cintron or something now Clottey although coming off a loss that was a win in some ways agianst Cotto. Clottey in many eyes including my own defeated Cotto and didnt hurt his reputation and status as being the one of the 5 best Welterweights in the world. If Shane could defeat him clearly that would be huge maybe the best victory of his career. It shouldnt be to hard to make the majority of the money goes to Shane the number 1 ranked WW,WBA Champ and top 5 p4p.

you guys really have no insight

shane beats berto = shane beats some young green opponent & has zero leverage in the future
shane beats clottey = shane beats the man who arguably beat cotto and has a bit of leverage against cotto

I have to disagree. The smarter move is to fight Berto for a chance to unify against an undefeated fighter who's more popular than Clottey and represents as the more winnable fight. Shane already holds the "I beat the guy you lost to card" against Cotto by smashing Margarito's face in so he's already fulfilled the common opponent argument imv. Stylistically Clottey is wrong for Mosley, as he is for a lot of guys, but particularly for Shane, Clottey poses as an extremely difficult confrontation considering Shane's troubles with the high guard and walk you down style that Winky was able to defeat him twice with. As a big fan of Berto, I don't believe him to be ready for this kind of step up but his people seem to think otherwise and so Shane would be wise to capitalize on the more fruitful opportunity.

    Berto it should be.

Always makes me laugh when someone says: "If he was smart..."

Yeah, Mosley is so dumb...he needs your advice on how to "be smart"

    ok guys...

if berto is such a great fight... what does mosley do after he beats the **** out of berto?

    call out floyd?
    call out pacman?
    call out cotto?

if floyd loses to jmm he rematches jmm
if cotto loses he will probably take a warm up fight then fight berto
if pacman loses he will probably fight the loser of jmm vs floyd (probably jmm)

clottey is the only optino that gives him some sort of leverage

You could have hit on something. If Shane beat Clottey, it would put him in a great bargaining position, especially if Cotto loses to Pac. Then Cotto has to put himself back by rematching Shane, or start sliding off the main stage.

Clottey is not to be underestimated though. A move like this could backfire badly and cost Shane if Clottey put on a strong performance. Also, Clottey is not going to leave himself as open as Margo did for Shane.

Mosley's next fight is a tune up that just so happens to be against a top fighter. His goal obviously to to secure a big fight against one of the "stars" of the sport. The problem is that he can only get a fight with one of the "stars" if and only if they wish to fight him. No matter what Shane does imo will gain him any leverage because he is already well qualified as an acceptable opponent to one of the stars.

If Mosley ever lands a fight against PBF, Pac, or Cotto, it's not going to be because of who he chooses and how he performs in his next fight. IMV, he has the same chances at getting those guys in the ring with him if he chooses to stay idle or if he winds up fighting Clottey or Berto. For that reason, if he chooses to stay active, as he should, I think he would be wise to take the easier fight against Berto and potentially gain another title in doing so.

It's a risky fight. Clottey is a tough opponent to look particularly good against; he does the basics well and is very durable. If Mosley didn't pull out a good performance, he risks losing; if he wins, he's only done Cotto's left-overs. Really, he'd have to stop Clottey or take a lopsided decision for this fight to bear fruit. Also, Clottey has no title.

It might just be his best option, though.
