If shavers had managed ed to drop Ali, would he be rated as high as foreman in the 70 s?

Frazier in 71 clearly beat Ali. A lesser fighter would have been koed as Joe was a machine that night.

I think George might have got him out pretty quick tbh.

In a prime for prime scenario, say 1973/74 Foreman and 1977 Shavers,George would end it pretty quickly. In real time, though, after Zaire it would have been more competitive. Foreman still wins.

George had that atg chin to fall back on as well. Shavers may have managed to rock him even score a kd or two, but at some point foreman catches shavers and puts him out.

Foremans chin was solid but it wasn't a atg chin. Too much is made of old Foreman standing up to Holyfields combinations. Holyfield was a decent puncher at heavyweight but if it was Tyson or Bowe landing those shots,Foreman would definitely have been stopped. Anyway Lyle was only a punch away from stopping Foreman.Shavers would have finished the job.

Absolutely. George lost a bit post Ali.

Shavers was only comparable to Foreman in terms of punching power. In all other categories Foreman was the better fighter. Foreman jabs Shavers head off until he gets the opening he is looking for. He then knocks Shavers out. Certainly Earnie could hurt George but this would not stem the tide. Foreman ko 2 over Shavers.

That's BS. Foreman has one of the best chins ever. Fatigue was the reason for the knockdowns vs Ali and Young. Being a shell of himself was the reason for the knockdowns vs Lyle. That and a 2 minute 2nd round when he had Lyle pin against the ropes.

Do you think Ali had a great chin? He was knocked down by Doug Jones. Joe Frazier, Chuck Wepner. Even the best of chins get dented from time to time.

You seriously think Shavers would have "finished the Job"? If Shavers and Foreman would have ever fought and Earnie would have been fortunate enough to have dropped Foreman, George would have arose and beat the shyte out of Shavers.

Wepner stepped on Ali's foot to cause the knockdown. It was not legitimate.
