If Sky treated other sports the way it treats boxing

Imagine the outcry if they did not show the end of the 2nd ashes test today, or in champions league did not show a penalty shoot until the re-run the following day.

Both matches are available to the regular Sky subscriber, whereas we pay £14.63 for something other sports fans (apart from WWE wrestling) get as part of the package, and we don't get all we think we are getting.

I watched both shows SBO & ITV4 and did not get to bed until very late, but missing Maccarioneli, Brook & Mitchell made me feel like a mug witch spoilt the night for me

Those in charge of boxing and other sports are not as professional as the ones that cover football, and/or they do not have the balls in the boardroom to argue boxings case. Probably the latter- boardroom balls lacking...

Same here. SBO's decision not broadcast the rest of the card delayed was shocking and really pissed me off especially considering as there was an hour left. What did they do? Stick two up to the people who bought a product and scheisted them/us. The thing with boxing is Sky know they can get away with ripping the fans off as they have been doing it for years. Boxing is Sky's little on-the-side cashcow and I don't see that changing any time soon if I'm honest.

what i would give for a hbo style and class of coverage.

i hate the monopoly sky have and the way they presume all people watching the boxing are ignorant about the sport. everything is so ****ing dumbed down with constant low level shitty fights being shown and once every blue moon an american fight comes on a WEEK after it happens

I wonder what the buy rates for this fight was. Not the greatest of bills I wouldn't expect there to be a huge buy rate for the fight. As for Sky not showing all the fights its a disgrace. Then they could say they were only showing Khan , Small and the Olympians on the PPV but not to show the rest of the card is poor. You should call up look for your money back off them tell them you weren't happy with it.

I mentioned this the other day as well. During the Khan fight did you notice that the actual fight was hardly mentioned? All the 'commentary' was basically harping on about the Wilcard, talking about Khan's age and plugging a fight with Hatton. Do they actually realise that they should be commentating on the fight? Watch it back and count the amount of times the twat with the over-excited voice (I don't care about his name) actually said the word 'jab' or 'head movement' or anything related to the fight! I was switching between ITV4 and SBO and the difference in the quality of the anchorman's questioning, the points that the panel raised and commentary team's presentation of the fight was astonishing really. I feel bad for Jim Watt having to be associated with those muppets.

On the flip side though guys, imagine if other sports sold themselves to TV as boxing does.

Hey, I'm a football promoter. I have Manchester United, Spurs, Birmingham, Plymouth, Colchester and Grimsby under contract. I'm offering you Manchester United vs. Fulham but for the amount of money we want, it will have to be PPV. Also, it is taking place in the US so it will be at 3am but don't worry, we'll throw in Grimsby against Plymouth from the UK.

    :yep fair point.

But, when you compare Sky Coverage to the likes of HBO 24/7 - the quality is worlds apart. Boxing doesn't get the respect it deserves here in the UK.

But I bet that HBO have alot more money to spend on pre fight build ups. Producing 24/7 wouldn't be cheap.

Sky are *******s. I bought that ppv for the undercard and of course they ****ed me over. I'm never buying another one. If you're reading sky, from now on I'm downloading your shitty broadcasts the next morning for free. **** you.

Just got a generic response from the honchos at Sky. They don't give a **** and who can blame them as they've been getting away with it for ages:

'Just a quick complaint that I know will not get anywhere anyway. The Khan PPV was a complete spoof. Some of the best fights on the undercard were not even shown on delayed footage and I am sick and tired of the clueless Dave Clark and 'expert' panel. Aside from Jim Watt, for obvious reasons, the PPV last night was a complete joke. Good job the headlining fight was a decent watch as other than the fight, the package was a disgrace for £15.'

I told you's to boycott the Khan fight. They think its acceptable. I will not pay for another card until they deliver something that is worthy of my £45 or whatever Sky Sports plus box office costs me.

The show the Ajose-Wright fight, they show Edwards-Usman but then they cancel Davies-Napa. They're a ****ing joke.

The way i see it going Promoters will be setting up their own TV channels as the big football clubs have done. Dont know how easy it would be to set up without burning bridges with sky. But i definately see it happening in the future. I mean warren.tv does already exist.
