He didn't put a rehydration clause on Barrios, so why Ryan? Barrios is bigger than Ryan. Seems like he knows Ryan will be a bigger threat.

He went to 140 and didn't look good there against a much bigger man. Ryan is almost as big as barrios.

That's true. The issue I have is that why not allow Ryan to rehydrate naturally since he's already making weight at the catch-weight limit.

I don't know maybe he feels Ryan will put on 15 or more pounds on fight night and be a JMW in the ring and that's too much size for him to overcome. Ryan already holds a significant size height and reach advantage as is.

And he's a bigger puncher than Barrios too. If no rehydration clause Ryan would be a MW in the ring. They will be fighting on an even playing field on Saturday night. #NOEXCUSES

Both of them have to adhere to the clause or be penalized. Not sure why some people are crying about it.

I’ll flip this around. If Garcia sparks out Davis does he get full credit cause he is a much bigger fighter draining down to beat a smaller fighter.

But But but Garcia made weight and was within hydration clause. He is bigger but he met all the requirement so…ugh full credit.

but if Garcia loses , it’s tainted. See the double standard stupidity. If both fighters meet all the required terms then the winner gets full credit. It’s two diva fighting at a catch weight. This isn’t for some championship. Just bragging rights. So why shouldn’t winner get full credit.

I disagree. It's hard enough to make weight. Fighter needs to hydrate properly after the weigh in. It's all water weight any way. No one puts on muscle in a day.

Weight bullying is BS because if a fighter can't make weight properly he'll be weakened. See Chad Dawson vs Ward.

Which is why the catchweight would, imo, be more egregious than the rehydration limit.

But, even then, as it currently stands, Garcia's rehydrating up to essentially the welterweight limit, maybe even a couple of lbs over depending on when the rehydration weigh in occurs. That has been the norm for guys fighting at/near the lightweight limit in the past.

Simple , don’t fight at a weight you don’t feel comfortable making. If you feel weak from the weight lose but do it anyway, that doesn’t take away from the other guy that beat you. A fighter should be held accountable for his agreement. It’s utter BS that people want an asterisk if the fighter lose but full credit if they win.

I didn’t realize two guys from two totally different divisions were fighting. Interesting. Lol much bigger. I remember the days when boxing fans didn’t count height as being bigger. What happened?
