No, I still think Pavlik will be too much and will eventually stop Taylor. However, I will say that he has a much better chance of winning if he follows Stewart's directions.
If Taylor uses his jab, keeps his distance, Kelly is there to be hit, and Taylor despite what his detractors say does have pop in his hands when he lets them go. Fighting Wink and Hopkins changed his style a bit, but if he can get a rhythm going, it will be a long night for Pavlik, because despite what all the haters say on here, this is a huge step up in class for Pavlik, and if anyone should be doubted it's him. It's a pick 'em fight either way though, but I think it's Taylors to lose by how he chooses to gameplan and stick to it.
i think we'll see the best version of taylor on sept. 29th. he will be well prepared, in great shape, and i expect him to listen to manny. the real question, to me anyway, is whether taylor will continue to execute manny's instrucitons after he gets clocked hard-and this is inevitable-by pavlik; or, will taylor just go into his shell.
does taylor ever listen to manny? the way he went ape **** at jermaine just before the final round against spinks convinced me that manny thought they'd lost the fight.
A very intersting thread. Yes, if Tyalor listens, I think he can out speed Pavlik, BUT Talyor has to be willing to pay the price to win. This means fighting back, and not backing away / giving up rounds. Taylor has a lot of talent, but he really does not have a lot of guts which is why he will never be a great fighter.
If he heard and followed what Manny told him he would lose the fight against Spinks...Cory Shuffles in, Straightens up, Shuffles in, Straightens up, had far better boxing skills and handspeed, threw more, landed more until a certain point and Taylor could never hit him with a second punch... The left lead didn't work, the footwork was horrible and he was tentative to throw the straight right as he bows that right arm and Cory wouldn't be there anymore when he let the punch go, Jermain didn't cutt off the ring and let the Jinx or The Next Generation circle him up all night long... Taylor won cause he imposed the right hand that often at the end stretch but if he would go for it regardless of Spinks counter punching ( like Manny fired him up to do) he would get countered that often, driven off, made a worse presentation of himself and probably there would be a Spinks vs Pavlik showdown next sat night...
