If Taylor vs AA would've gone to the score cards

AA would have won the fight fairly clearly on points at the end, imo, but I think the KO at the end distorted things a bit.

JT was in that fight for a while, no doubt.

 

In a tournament where there is an added incentive for the KO I am definitely inclined to give more weight to damage inflicted--disregarding the obvious knockdown--than to activity. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT HOW A BOUT IS TO BE JUDGED, but it is hard not to add weight to damage when looking at the grand scheme of this tournament. Taylor got only a few semi-clean shots during the first 5 rounds, and if I remember correctly not a single one was anything of substance. AA landed a number of clean shots, especially to the body, and caused quite a bit of wear on Taylor over those same 5 rounds, though it was not until later that those power shots started to increase in frequency. Taylor was by far the more active fighter for the first half, but it almost appeared as if AA was toying with him, knowing Taylor couldn't get through his shell and exploding with a combination at semi-regular intervals. All I know is Showtime needs compubox, period. I need to know the stats. I doubt Taylor connected on more than 19% of his punches, though I could be wrong, but I know almost none of those were power shots. AA was wild early in the fight but appeared to connect with both a higher percentage and higher raw total of punches while throwing far, far fewer. SHOWTIME! STEP UP YOUR DAMN GAME. With that said, I gave Taylor 3 of the first 5, but he literally did nothing to throw Abraham off during the entire fight. Taylor looked frustrated that he couldn't land anything even resembling a clean shot even when he won a round.

Score would have been 117/111 for AA.
The commentators sucked.
JT's jab wasn't landing at all. He got out jabbed by a guy 5'9"! A few hooks got in but he got outclassed the whole night.

 

Abraham was dominating the fight, it was not close.

 

Who the **** cares about "activity" when all you are doing is wasting your energy throwing punches directly into a guy's guard. Taylor did almost nothing the entire fight that bothered Taylor and in the middle and late rounds Taylor was landing in the low single digits.

I had money on Taylor but he was definitely down going into the last round and was really never "in" the fight in the first place in that he never did anything that seemed to bother Abraham.

 

i live in the u.s. and hate taylor, love AA, but had taylor wining by 1 point

THe first 3 rounds quite obviously went to Taylor. It was the typical warmuptime for Abraham.
