If the alphabet heavy champs from the 80 's, excluding Holmes and Tyson, were challenging Joe Louis for the belt, who is the most impressive? Who's in with the greatest chance of success? And who gets relegated to the bum of the month club?! Only actual champs, not contender s of the 80 s.

Tucker gives him serious serious problems. Good handspeed longer reach and great legs, plus a very good chin! Louis is obviously much better in terms of legacy and resumee but stylistically tucker is POISON for louis.
Thomas is competitve in the first half but eventually gets stopped on his feet.
Tubbs gives him problems at first but gets broken down.

I don't see it to be honest.

There is nothing in any of the fighters who gave Louis trouble, to suggest that this model would be likely to have success.

Mike Tyson was an alphabet champ in the 1980s, for a while.

Of all the alphabet boys, he's the only one who would have a chance against Joe Louis.

Other than super fast, super young Tyson, nobody, really.

I don't see any of the alphabet gang even going the distance with Louis, to be honest.

Maybe Tucker lasts 15. Maybe. But Tucker was fragile. He hurt his knee and was out for a while. He broke his hand and was out. He had a drug problem. And he never went 15 rounds in his life.

I hear what your saying about Tyson, but Tyson and Holmes have been done against Louis a few times. But the individual alphabet boys, be interesting to see how there viewed against Joe. Tuck stands out as a decent opponent, the one that fought Tyson. He maybe goes the full way, similar to Farr but loses a decision. Witherspoon would be a interesting match up but has to be fully fit and focused.

Tucker and Tubbs could be competitive as mentioned above. Pinklon Thomas, Witherspoon and Bruno could have some success as well.

You can add Dokes on that list as he would have given him a lot of trouble with his hand speed and quick bursts of punches. The Berbick that went 15 with Holmes could have proved just as troublesome to Louis with his strength and awkwardness. Coetzee would have been been dangerous in the early rounds if he came out swinging with his bionic right. Page had the skills and speed to have given a very good account of himself and Mike Spinks could have confused and frustrate Louis with his jerky movement and unorthodox heavyweight style.

Apart from those, I cant really see anyone else been much of a challenge to Louis.

I didn't think of the others and forgot about Spinks. He would be tricky.

my thoughtis one of them would beat him, possibly tucker or witherspoon, but he would bounce back and take them in the rematch to add to the set of wins over the rest of them.

This is early louis. Later louis was too pro to lose to any of them.
